    Wayne left practice early today.
On the upside, it's looking good for Freeney.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Colts suddenly have another injury concern after star receiver Reggie Wayne left practice 20 minutes early.

Wayne cut short Friday's workout after aggravating a problem with his right knee. He walked on his own to the training room, and is listed as probable for Sunday's Super Bowl against New Orleans, 6News' Sports Director Dave Furst reported.

All-Pro defensive end Dwight Freeney is listed as questionable, although coach Jim Caldwell sounded optimistic Friday that he could possibly play on Sunday.

Freeney hasn't taken part in a full practice since tearing a ligament in his right ankle nearly two weeks ago.

"He's trending in the right direction," Caldwell said at his final pre-Super Bowl news conference.

Freeney has been receiving treatment several times daily since arriving in South Florida last week, trying to speed up the recovery after tearing a ligament in his right ankle during the Colts' AFC championship game victory over the New York Jets.

Earlier this week, Freeney said he believes he's improving. However, he still hasn't practiced with the team.

"He's getting better, but we'll see," Caldwell said. "It's still a day-to-day situation."

Meanwhile, offensive lineman Ryan Lilja has been bothered by a sore back and couldn't practice Thursday, but Caldwell said the team expects one of Peyton Manning's top blockers to be ready for the game.

It's still wait-and-see on cornerback Jerraud Powers and his ailing left foot.

Caldwell revealed Friday that Powers had "an internal fixation of a fractured foot," which typically means a plate or screws were inserted to hold a fracture in place.

    Still, Caldwell sounded upbeat.

"He feels that he's going to be able to play," he said. "It's just kind of up to the doctors ... if he's able to run and run without any inhibitions whatsoever. He's moving along and moving well and we'll see."

Freeny will play, but how effectively is the question. If I'm the Saints O line I'm making it a point to step on that foot a few times early to see if he can be neutralized early.

Reggie Wayne is a tough one, if that knee is bad and hinders his routes the Saints might be able to get away with single coverage and shut him down for the most part. That leaves a lot of flexibility for them to attack manning and also cover the no names plus Clark.

Knee's been hurt all year. Probably won't have any effect at all.

The no names are the reason the Colts are playing tomorrow.

I know. The frog and Lassie are damn good, but if Wayne is allowed to be single covered effectively the Saints can do more things to attack the other receivers.
