I've been hearing about this from many different sources...couldn't figure it out just be searching the threads.

Could somebody please explain what all is at stake, and what exactly is going on?

Listening to Tim Duncan's All Star interview makes it seem that it's a bit serious...

    Thanks.

The owners want to decrease the players salaries and contract years, they are arguing that Lebron can make money playing football, and Dwade can model.

The owners basically want to eliminate all exceptions (Bird Rights, MLE, LLE, etc.), reduce the length of player contracts, make contracts go one way (so the player owes his allegiance but the owner can cut him at the drop of a dime with no repurcussions), and slash the share of revenues the players get. With this crazy agenda from Stern and the owners it's pretty easy to see why a lockout could happen again.

Good for the union. The "offer" the owners came with and their entire at ude about it has been nothing less than insulting.

Even if there need to be changes made, owners popping off with gems like "If they don't like it, LeBron can go play for the NFL and Wade can be a model" are unprofessional and counterproductive.
