The Dallas - Washington trades aside, the future of Manu withthe Spurs is very uncertain now that its clear that Manu will be exploring free agency. I really think that there will be teams out there who will appreciate what Manu can still provide at this stage in his career and the Spurs will probbably not be able to match their offers.
OTOH, if the Spurs trade Manu now, a very unlikely probability IMO, they have no assurance his replacement will provide any immediate benefit but could possibly be better for SA in the longer term.
I think Spurs will stick with Manu and offer him their best deal when the time comes. Hopefully it will be enough but I'm not holding my breath.

Trading Manu in almost any scenario hurts the Spurs more than it helps them in the short-term.

I think the last thing the Spurs FO will do in response to the Mavs trade is essentially waive the white flag and make a trade that looks toward the future...that means it's unlikely Manu is included in any trade this year.

The Spurs have to trade Tim, Tony or Manu if they want to go anywhere this season, take your pick.

Spurs couldn't beat the Mavs last season 1-4 and this year before the trade 1-2; forget it now after this super trade.

If they don't trade one of the big 3, they're pretty much packing it in this season and hoping that RJ's expiring next year brings in the goods.

Raise the bar higher than a question mark.
