After the trading deadline passed /the only thing we did in the trading department to improve the roster now was..."NOTHING"/, it was/is obvious the Spurs were not able to pull any trades to bring some players, who could upgrade our current roster. Therefore, with those guys we have right now, I believe, it will be impossible to pass the 1st round in the Playoffs; there is no way the Spurs would win our Division either - Dallas secured that 1st spot already by bringing Butler and Haywood - last night they held Orlando to 85 pts, pretty impressive!!! So, I bet f. Cuban is happy...

The Spurs will probably finish between the 5th and the 7th spot in the final Playoff standings, which will send them either to Denver, Utah or Dallas in the 1st round; Taking into account Utah beat us 4:0 this year, it will be very difficult to pass through them, Denver also defeated us 2 times at the ATT center, needless the say Dallas has "our number" as well, so fasten your seat-belts Spurs fans, and prepare for (1) an early Playoff exit, (2) an entire NEW roster next year, and (3) HOPEFULLY, a NEW COACH next year - Avery Johnson. Pop is simply done as well - time to retire, Pop!!! Thanks for all you have done, but you have to go, buddy!!!

The way it looks right now the spurs will be lucky to snag the 8th seed which will mean a 1st round playoff matchup with LA

Houston may save us the embarrasment of a 1st round s acking though by moving past the spurs for the 8th seed.

I could totally see Manu heading off to CHA to play under Larry Brown, they defenitely could use some depth behind Jackson at SG

That would be a scary, scary team w/ Ginobili's passing and all those finishers

Hey I liked Avery Johnson as a player and all, but in 2006 he had a team with 15 losses at the end of the season and he couldn't figure out how to win a championship with that team. If Pop isn't our coach next year, we won't make the playoffs. That's a guarantee.

I don't think Tim would like to hear Avery yapping in his ear all the time. Avery is a good coach, but he is that Scott Skiles type of coach.

As they always say in sports, its easier to replace the coach than the players. This is the next logical step. Pop has lost the players. When that happens you are done.

Wasn't this pretty much the same reaction from the fans in '07 when Pop did not make any changes in the roster and we all know how bad of a move it turn out to be, with the Spurs only wining the championship?

I've been a fan since the 70s. I knew there was a time when Stan Albeck had to go. He was to offense the way Pop is to defense. There came a time when he lost the team and he had to go. Same thing happened with Larry Brown. Pop is not so much a better coach than any of these guys than he was fortunate. Now, when the team needs him to be his most brilliant he instead has become a mad scientist to the detriment of the team. There is no shame in this. Its just his time to go. If he truly cares about Timmy and the players he will get out of the way. Of course, I'd rather have the old Pop back, but he's not here. I don't know that he will ever be found.

so bobcats beat cleveland..... Ratliff played 18 min, scored 5 pts and had 2 blocks. Before any dumbasses say he's old and it's just 2 blocks, But how many shots did he alter and intimidate? That's what the big picture should be about. So Pop go yourself cause you aint worth a anymore.

.... I finally got to understand what Pop is doing...........Dude wants to play the Fakers in the first round....... he isn't showing all his tricks until the POs .... that's the only explanation for his "I wanna lose" lineups.....

IMO I don't see a coach doing much better with this group. This team needs a talent infusion. The Spurs look old and slow.

Well, there could be less small ball and more production from Jefferson, but yeah -- he's not going to make Tim and Manu less old or Tony less injured.

As a starter Tim has needed another big since Manu got hurt. Dallas buried us with the Butler/ Haywood deal. That should of been us! At this point I'd rest Parker until he feels 100%. Time to rebuild. Don't wear out Manu and Timmy trying to get to second round. This season is done.

The Spurs have had centers sitting on their bench all year and haven't been played. I don't know why anyone thinks someone with that philosophy is going to trade for another center.

Remember, if Pop goes, it is not the Pop who won four champuonships. It is the Pop who along with small ball ran the team into the dirt. We all would love to have the old Pop back, but that is very unlikely.

you my friend are right, the season is done. It doesn't matter how many times we about the head coach that we got,he never browses the forum. It just the way it's gonna be. What I don't like is that Popshole knows we can't make it through the whole playoffs and endure what we face. He thinks the big 3 aren't gonna get tire carrying the sorry excuse for role players we have. That's what angers me. He can say lets compete to the best of our abilities but he is not seeing what lies ahead. The Celts, lakers, mavs, nuggets etc. In a 7 game series the Spurs simply cannot overcome these road blocks.

Good point. But with the lack of a true starting caliber 4, or 5, to put alongside Duncan, IMO they would struggle with a traditional lineup as well. McDyess, Bonner, and Blair, are quality role players, but not starting material. I think thats whats really wrong with this team, besides the overall lack of size/athleticism. A true Center 6'10" or better, starting caliber, would really help the overall defense IMO. Pop definitely gets the share of blame for helping assemble this roster, but with this current Spurs roster, Pop really can't get moch more out of this group.
