PG Kevin Johnson
SG Allen Iverson
SF Carmelo Anthony
PF Kevin Mchale
C Patrick Ewing
Lets see who can get the best team out of the following players. I'll make a poll later on. You have to pick 5 players from the following roster assuming all of the players are in their prime.
PG
Kevin Johnson
Gary Payton
Steve Nash
Tim Hardaway
SG
Clyde Drexler
Allen Iverson
George Gervin
Reggie Miller
SF
Carmelo Anthony
Dominique Wilkins
John Havlicek
Julius Erving
PF
Kevin Mchale
Kevin Garnett
Elvin Hayes
Dennis Rodman
C
Alonzo Mourning
Patrick Ewing
David Robinson
Dikembe Mutumbo
My Pick:
PG Kevin Johnson
SG Clyde Drexler
SF Dominique Wilkins
PF Kevin Garnett
C David Robinson
PG Kevin Johnson
SG Allen Iverson
SF Carmelo Anthony
PF Kevin Mchale
C Patrick Ewing
Gary Payton
Clyde Drexler
Julius Erving
Kevin Garnett
David Robinson
All unselfish with great defense and offense.
Your choices for SG could be better though
Where in the blue is Olajuwon? He owns all those centers in that list.
I didn't want to add the legends because that would make the choices easier...
KJ
Miller
Erving
Rodman
Ewing
Yup.
I might switch Clyde for Miller, actually.
I'd slide Havlicek to 2-guard if I could:
Payton
Havlicek
Dr. J
KG
Robinson
Although I was tempted to pick Patrick Ewing over David only because I think he might fit better playing alongside KG offensively and KG is clearly the pick at PF. But ultimately, David is just much better than Patrick so I couldn't in good conscience do that.
PG: Gary Payton
SG: Reggie Miller
SF: Julius Erving
PF: Kevin Garnett
C: David Robinson
Payton
Miller - The amount of open looks he'd get on this team would be...a lot.
Dr. J
KG
D-Rob
no offense, but that list is full of suck.
why did you limit it to those players?
wheres hakeem?
Well just by looking at his list, he purposely removed the GOATs from each position to make it more interesting.
i hear ya, but i didn't pick any......except magic.
Maybe it's because he was before our time, but people may be selling Havlicek short. I didn't really watch him either, but he was a stud. After Bill Russell retired, Havlicek helped lead that Celtics team to two more championship, picked up one of those NBA Finals MVPs, was a 13 time all star, 8 time all NBA defensive player, and was considered one of the clutchest guys in his era.
Maybe if he didn't play for the Celtics, he wouldn't have been as good. Maybe in a more modern era, he wouldn't have as many all star selections or all defense honors. Who knows? It probably is that he played in a time too early for most of us to have seen him play. But, the guy might deserve more consideration.
Miller > John Havlicek on this team if we're allowed to slide players around. Other than Reggie none of these SG/SF guys really are that great from 3-point land on first glance; and with a team loaded with this much talent especially when it comes to finishing/creating in the paint....a long distance specialist would have a field day due to double-teams.
Gary Payton
George Gervin
John Havlicek
Kevin Garnett
Dikembe Mutumbo
This great defensive team can cover up for Gervin.![]()
Uhhh...Dave's a legend.
So are KG and Dr. J imo. Those were two easy choices as well, out of the players listed at their positions.
Kevin Johnson
Clyde Drexler
Julius Erving
Kevin Garnett
David Robinson
PG Gary Payton
SG Clyde Drexler
SF Carmelo Anthony
PF Kevin Garnett
C David Robinson
