The calls on Duncan...

I've been doing some reading, here and at Nuggets Talk, and I've read some pretty idiotic stuff. And I just want to know your takes on it.

The first three fouls on TD, the ones who put him on the bench in the first half, how do you rate them? (legit, questionable, bull )

My take is:

1) legit (he even called that on himself, raising his arm)
2) legit (Martin had his position and took a fair charge)
3) utter bull (Martin pulled a Manu and got away with it)

The 2nd foul was all Tony Parker's fault...TD had nowhere to go with that ball but straight into the Denver player. Very poor decision by Parker there.

The first foul was on TD and the 3rd foul was 1/4 part foul and 3/4 part acting.

Thoses things happen in all games, had the 2nd foul not occured, the 3rd fould would not have mattered. The Spurs get fouls for them that are just as questionable....win some lose some.

First one was legit and clever on Camby's part. He moved his arm over on the shot to make sure he got contact across the arm from Duncan. He was going more for the foul than the basket. Looked like that was Karl's game plan, get Duncan in foul trouble.

Second was legit.

Third was a bad call by a ref from behind who couldn't see the play just Martin takiing the dive. Ref shouldn't have made the call from where he was standing and when Nunn reviewed the tapes I bet he got an F on that one. It's part of the game. I doubt all the Denver fans howling about Manu were howling in indignation about that one.

I thought the first foul was caused by Nazr's poor defense on Camby. Tim got him and the foul was deserved, but it shouldn't have gotten to that point.

The second foul was a good call-- Parker put Tim in a bad spot. I thought Camby was bailing out and could have been deemed to have been not set, but in reality, he beat Tim to the spot, gave Tim a place to land, and Tim bowled him over. I thought the officials could have stopped short of giving him a foul and could have called travelling, too, but the call wasn't a bad one.

The third foul wasn't a good call, but Martin did what a smart player should and Leon Wood fell for the flop. Tim has to know better than to even give an official a chance to make that call and I'm sure he was anticipating that there would, at worst, be a no call in that situation.

I thought a couple of other plays in the game warranted discussion. While I didn't like Bucker's blatant elbow at Manu's head, I thought Dan Crawford handled the situation well by refusing to allow Manu's flop to cause a foul and not penalizing Buckner for not making contact. I haven't often seen a situation where an official stops play for the sole purpose of telling two guys to cool it, rather than to give them fouls or technicals or whatever. I've read others who thought it should have been a foul on Buckner, but I thought Danny Crawford did the right thing.

I also thought that Karl was wrong to about the call on Miller. If Duncan's was a charge, so was Miller's.
