If "Jeff Gannon"/James D. Guckert had been unveiled, so to speak, as a liberal imposter who lobbed softball questions at Clinton administration press briefings, he would be as infamous as Michael Schiavo.
And if 39 of those White House visits were mysteriously unrelated to his "reporting" duties, imagine what innuendoes would be issuing forth from Planet Limbaugh. Imagine the organized phone call campaign demanding newspapers and TV stations report the story.
But Gannon/Guckert isn't being unveiled or innuendoed or even blipped on media radar screens, even among liberals.
Last Sunday was the third time in recent weeks that I came across hyper-informed liberals who have not heard the first thing about Guckert, who used the name "Jeff Gannon" to pose as a newsman from a Web site that was in reality a Republican Party front. Gannon advertised his second job as a male escort on Web sites complete with full frontal photos.

Can you imagine the venomous diatribe spewing from Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, Scarborough, Coulter (those self-described arbiters of moral values) if this had happened in the Clinton White House?
Meanwhile a gay pros ute (who posed as a Marine, no less) seems to have as much access to the White House as the President, and this goes unmentioned. And for god's sake, the fact that he is/was a gay pros ute is a huge part of the story. "Moral values" and "evil sexuals" are the buzzwords of the right. This guy had pictures of himself pissing in the wind, spread-eagled with a hard-on for crying out loud. Hannity et al would be showing these pictures 24/7 (with the "offending" parts censored, of course) as he ranted about Democrats de able values and the degenerate sexuals they hung out with. (Anyone still think Alan Colmes has any say at all in this show?)
I'm begging for scraps now, so I guess I should be grateful the article pointed out Dana Milbank's "nothing to see here, please move along" at ude on Countdown. That was inexusable.
Meanwhile, the silence is deafening.
I watched Real Time w/ Bill Maher last week and this guy is the worst liar I have ever had the misfortune of viewing on camera. He was blinking more than twice a second for the entire interview with a broad sprinkling of uhhh's and ummm's. Not to mention that he'd start to say something and then just stop, as if he just RIGHT THEN realized it was a bad idea to say whatever he was spouting off.
I'm sure it would have been as virulent as the diatribes from Leftist partisans and pundits on this issue. So what? Most rational people don't measure Media coverage by what Ann Coulter and Al Franken are choosing to talk about.

"Alleged gay escort Jeff Gannon (né James Dale Guckert) has been taken a lot of heat passing himself off as a White House reporter. But there has been an upside.
Gannon says that some of his harshest critics - "radical gay activists" - have actually come on to him.
His detractors shed their convictions "like a sweater on a hot day," Gannon says in the new issue of Vanity Fair.
The born-again Gannon refused to talk about his sexuality with reporters David Margolick and Richard Gooding but says, "Did I know sin before I knew salvation? You bet! But my life was heading in the right direction. What's interesting about this is now I'm being punished for things I left behind."
Gannon also hints at doing secret work for which he needed White House security clearance, although he refuses to elaborate: "My history isn't exactly linear."

Probably...if I cared to imagine it. But, I thought the Democrats were THE big tent party of inclusion and tolerance. Doesn't the left embrace Mr. Guckert's lifestyle choices and respect his privacy?
Pretty insensitive to out the guy and then harangue him until he quit his second job. That's the type of behavior Democrats are supposed to abhor in others. Was the destruction of this man's life worth any political hay you were able to make at the President's expense? Because, it seems most of the world -- except for Mr. Guckert and few rabid Democratic partisans -- has moved on.

They're all in the political entertainment business. I lump them together.
