    Ex-Spur backin jail again

    Ex-Spurs player Robertson arrested again
    Express-News

Former Spurs guard and four-time NBA All-Star Alvin Robertson was back in Bexar County Jail for the second time in as many weeks Wednesday after a judge revoked his bail bond at the request of the district attorney's office.

First Assistant District Attorney Cliff Herberg said a motion to double Robertson's bail to $450,000 from $225,000 was filed Wednesday morning in state district court after allegations surfaced that he was threatening two women.

A judge had previously set Robertson's bail at $75,000 for each of three felonies he was charged with last month. That amount was increased to $150,000 on each charge, Herberg said.

Robertson's lawyer Jimmy Parks Jr. said the revocation was unusual because his client hadn't been charged with a new crime. Still, Parks said that his client would try to post bail as soon as he could.

Robertson, 47, was charged Feb. 26 with trafficking of persons under 18 for pros ution, sexual assault of a child and sexual performance of a child in connection with a sex-trafficking ring that allegedly forced a 14-year-old girl to have sex with men throughout San Antonio and Corpus Christi.

Robertson was initially arrested in Bentonville, Ark., after an arrest warrant was issued for him. He was extradited back to San Antonio on March 5, and was released after posting bail that same day.

Six other people, including Robertson's girlfriend, also are charged.

In court do ents, Robertson, who was with the Spurs from 1984-1989, is alleged to have ordered the teen to dress more revealingly for a meeting with a "john" and to have sexually molested her after she had sex with another man.

Robertson, through his lawyer, denies the allegations.

Herberg said his office requested the higher bail bond amount after learning that the women filed complaints with the San Antonio Police Department, alleging Robertson was harassing and threatening them. He said the women had, at one time, been granted protective orders against the former basketball player.

“These were acts that placed them in fear, so we took steps to increase his bond,” Herberg said.

The prosecutor said one of the women told police that “he blames (her) for getting him in his current predicament.”

Robertson's attorney said he had no details of the women's complaints. Parks said he was never given a chance to hear from witnesses or present evidence on his client's behalf.

“The reality is if you commit and offense they can revoke your bond, but this isn't common practice for a district attorney's office to double your bond without violation of a protective order or a new case.”

It's looking less and less likely that Alvin is going to get his jersey retired.

Since O.J. they don't wait until the women are dead, Herberg.

    But nice try.

Actually, it's the biggest lock in Spurs history that his number gets retired.

Truly a talented player and a master of stealing the ball. I loved watching him play.

Off the court a total mess that needs serious help.
