    ...immigration

On February 25, 2010, the People for Change group in Prince George's County Maryland held a town hall forum to discuss the impacts of illegal immigration on local communities. NumbersUSA President Roy Beck and DC Mayoral Candidate Leo Alexander came under fire from a protesters for taking a stand against illegal immigration. One protester compared the meeting to a Klan rally.

Must be doing something right if that's all they can come up with.

Illegal immigration should not be an issue of contention. The fact it is...shows how far off track things have become.

Then again, I never thought we'd ever get to the point where tax cuts, for anybody...would ever be portrayed negatively, except by the govt.

    ...and so it goes.

So if illegal immigration is so easy, what's the best answer?

Should we round up squads to knock on doors and demand registration papers? Official citizenship tests to be held at every traffic stop? Perhaps we could just set up some roadblocks and take care of it that way?

Everyone who can't provide sufficient proof gets locked up, and eventually returend to their country of origin. Of course, it'd be expensive if they were from someplace other than Mexico or Canada, so if they're from another country, we'll just let them choose Mexico or Canada instead.

And the children? Sheesh... well they're citizens if they're born here, so I guess they can stay in foster homes. All the p*ssies who can't handle it without their folks can leave with them. Besides, they're anchor babies; who cares what they think? I mean, military kids have to move every few years, so they shouldn't be crying about being uprooted either.

To ensure those illegals don't get back into the country, I suggest lasers and rocket stations every 20 feet along our borders. It may cost a few billion, but what's that compared to peace of mind?

Finally, we'll rewrite the inscription on the Statue of Liberty. Instead of that "Give us your tired, your poor... etc etc" claptrap, we'll change it to, "We've got enough people already, thanks anyways. Go back to your own country you dirty illegals!" Oh, and we'll replace the torch with a baton, to signify our willingness to beat down anyone who tries to enter illegally.

There is a difference between illegal and legal immigration in this country. One is choosing to be here, being counted, and receiving the rights of being immigrants. The other is coming here and not receiving much protection, not participating in the system, and being subjected to slave wages--keeping the pay low for them, and taking bread from the immigrants and citizens that are here. It is deplorable the amount of demonization that is done to LEGAL IMMIGRANTS (re: Tom Tancredo. Keep in mind, if you hear his words about people who "can't spell vote" that you have to be a citizen of the United States to vote).

But for the undo ented people in this nation, that is not helping the country that is offering you asylum from wherever you came from. Now, the tone of this meeting is ridiculous. We cannot demonize these people, rather recognize the problem, and we have to distinguish the rights of immigrants and illegal immigrants in this nation.

    This.

Illegal immigrants are the evil bogeymen, coming to steal your jobs AND the food off your table at night! MUAHAHAHAH!

It's not like anyone who wants can get citizenship. If you're not married to a citizen, or you're not highly educated/qualified, then you're stuck hoping to be one of the lucky few chosen to immigrate legally.

Even if you're chosen, the process is long and costly. I spent roughly 4k getting my wife's green card.

The funny part how the black guy is talking about revolution when Washington D.C has been under attack by its own population for the past 20 years due to the high crime rate. Immigrants (Illegal or legal) would be great for the city of Washington.

Enforce the laws that are already on the books.

Allow more Palestinians in. That would mix things up.
