He's in no way a right wing extremist. He just calls it like he sees it. That is neither left or right.

    "like he sees it."

fair enough, he sees govt as something to be hated, destroyed, abused, compromised.

The Cons utional "Promote the general welfare" as in "regulate" predatory, off-ripping, gouging cartelistic/monopolistic corps is part of the Cons ution he ignores.

I'm sure thinks police, fire, water, electricity, public health services should all be privatized so the corps could gouge citizens and demote the general welfare.

I didn't watch the video, but being from NJ, I've heard of the guy.
What it's clear is that his writing and television career is more important than sitting on a bench imparting justice. Funny how people like him were part of the system and did nothing to change it, only to go out of the system to about it.

I'm sure that being a judge and being part of the problem in the past, if there was any wrongdoing he would have brought it to light. But I guess it pays better to just write books and flip his tongue on TV instead of really trying to pursue a solution.

So he espouses a view of the Commerce Clause contradicting several decades of Supreme Court precedent, including the more recent restrictive interpretations under Lopez and Morrison. I'm sure he and Clarence Thomas would have a field day, but it doesn't exactly make this message important or timely.

Judge Napolitano speaks for a lot of Americans. He speaks for none of them on the left.

He was in a position to do a lot more than just speak, but obviously he had no interest in fighting for what he believes in.
This is a perfect case of actions speaking louder than words.

You seem to think that a judge is able to solve problems as a judge. In that role, they are suppose to rule by law a precedent. You complain he left rather than fixing the system. Fixing it from within would be exactly what we don't want... JUDICIAL ACTIVISM! Writing books and being in the public view on Fox and other programs allows his message to get out, and help public pressure to change a broken system.

Seriously, the video isn't very long. You should take a couple minutes.

Not all judges rule merely on precedent. Precedent is overturned and new precedent set all the time. Obviously, to do that you need to be a judge, sitting on a bench, and not on Fox or pursuing your literary career...

I'll bet he's done that a few times.

I don't understand why you choose to find fault in the man. He's doing good work as it is. Someone who's an expert on the topic needs to be in the media. He is one of so few.

I don't find fault in the man. I do, however, find his credibility fairly limited.
Heck, if he is so compelled about his ideals, then he could easily pursue a career in politics and try to do something about it.
Maybe he simply doesn't want his ideas to actually have the scrutiny of the population, or he's fully aware he's part of a minority.

Alito is as credible as anyone else...especially when he's right.

There a lot of people compelled by ideas/ideals, that are not in politics. Doesn't mean they cannot, or should not try to affect political discussion and events.

Alito makes sense, makes good points...and above all, has identified the timing. This is a crucial time in this country's history. More crucial than any in my lifetime. Decisions made today, will not affect me so much, as our children, grandchildren and on down the line.

It's about giving our kids the same opportunities we had...not limiting them. If healthcare passes, this country will never be the same again. The resources, the exponential increase in governmental power and intrusion into everyday lives, the destruction of a huge part of our private sector and the associated growth and research in those fields that will be then dominated by govt beaurocracy...will suck the the life and energy ouf of this country. This is what socialism does, and has always done.

For those who think that American greatness is somehow wrong, evil, or don't even think we have been great...none of this will matter to them. They have a "right" to let the government take care of them. It's what, in their minds...our government is supposed to do. Take care of them.

"not take care of me!....just, uh..help us. Evil corporations are taking our money!"

But, for those who know different. Who understand what America is, stands for in the world, and its power to affect positive change...what is happening now is disastrous for not just our future, but the entire worlds. The poor, the disadvantaged, the helpless...have all looked to America for hope, help, and maybe a place they can go for a better life. Take that away, and you take away more than your children/grandchildrens hopes...you take away much of the worlds.

They come here for a reason, and it's not just money...it's for a better life now, and in the future for themeselves, and their children.

Soicialism will not only destroy the country, but much hope in the world.

"pffft, your wrong...America's not so great, and this ain't socialism. And even if it were, it's not gonna destroy anything, it's gonna help! Besides, they hate us out there, for good reason!"

    And still they come.

    ...and so it goes
