GSP
Carwin
Saunders
Brown
Bocek
Really a great card here top to bottom. I'll be there live to see my boy GSP kick the out of Hardy..
Mir and Carwin is a fascinating fight and Alves/Fitch such a tough one to call..
Event Preview...
Main Card
Welterweight Championship bout: Georges St. Pierre (c) vs. Dan Hardy
Interim Heavyweight Championship bout: Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin
Welterweight bout: Ben Saunders vs. Jake Ellenberger
Welterweight bout: Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves
Lightweight bout: Jim Miller vs. Mark Bocek
e TV Card
Welterweight bout: Nate Diaz vs. Rory Markham
Welterweight bout: Ricardo Almeida vs. Matt Brown
Preliminary Card
Lightweight bout: Kurt Pellegrino vs. Fabricio Camoes
Light Heavyweight bout: Rodney Wallace vs. Jared Hamman
Middleweight bout: Rousimar Palhares vs. Tomasz Drwal
Welterweight bout: Matthew Riddle vs. Greg Soto
Main Card
Welterweight Championship bout: Georges St. Pierre (c) vs. Dan Hardy
GSP will finish this fight sometime in the 3rd round IMO. Hardy does not have the wrestling or JJ to deal with GSP on the ground. GSP will strike enough to give this guy a head-ache, then put him away on the ground, Via Ref Stoppage Round 3 TKO..
Interim Heavyweight Championship bout: Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin
Tough fight to call and a fascinating fight indeed. Mir looks hungry and extremely focused on that 3rd fight with Brock, but Carwin is a beast with viscious power and wrestling. This could go either way, but i'll go with Mir based on experience and thinking his JJ will be the difference..
Welterweight bout: Ben Saunders vs. Jake Ellenberger
Saunders is under-rated, i think he's a bigger force in that division than people feel at this point..
Welterweight bout: Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves
I have no idea how this is going to play out. Fitch is so damn tough, a true warrior, never gonna quit. Alves is the more talented, skilled fighter of the two. A way better version of the one that Fitch beat a few years ago. Fitch grinds out a win or Alves punishes him for 3 rounds with viscious leg kicks and strikes. Either way i think this goes the distance, both guys are too hard to finish...
Lightweight bout: Jim Miller vs. Mark Bocek
GSP
Carwin
Saunders
Brown
Bocek

Main Card
Welterweight Championship bout: Georges St. Pierre (c) vs. Dan Hardy
- I think this match will be closer contested in the early rounds than people expect, Hardy knows GSP puts a lot of pressure on himself and I have no doubt he'll find a way to use it against him. Still, I think conditioning will be a major factor and GSP will win via KO sometime in the 3rd/4th.
Interim Heavyweight Championship bout: Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin
- Hulk Mir by smothering. Shane has a brain that he uses for a real job, I can't see him putting everything on the line to beat Mir, but Mir is obsessed and knows this is his chance to fight someone similar to Brock. This one will not go to the judges.
Welterweight bout: Ben Saunders vs. Jake Ellenberger
Welterweight bout: Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves
- Pierce almost stole the fight from Fitch last time, Thiago will make him pay even more if he gets caught like that.
Lightweight bout: Jim Miller vs. Mark Bocek
e TV Card
Welterweight bout: Nate Diaz vs. Rory Markham
- Should be a decent fight, Diaz will get the decision.
I don't doubt Carwin's desire to win this fight or lay it on the line one bit. He wins this fight and he has a UFC belt around his waist. He can retire from his day job because big pay-days will be coming.. Watching the count-down show last night, this guy wants this bad.. He could easily KO Mir..
Welterweight Championship bout: Georges St. Pierre (c) vs. Dan Hardy-Dan Hardy is a really good fighter...but hes not taking GSP's belt.
Interim Heavyweight Championship bout: Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin-My guts tell me Mir will win, but I dont want to have the same picks as stringer
Welterweight bout: Ben Saunders vs. Jake Ellenberger-I think Ben has this easily
Welterweight bout: Nate Diaz vs. Rory Markham
Lightweight bout: Jim Miller vs. Mark Bocek-Im a big fan of both Millers

lol, I didn't pick the Miller fight so I picked the Diaz figth instead. You can still change it, and you probably should because I'm not buying Carwin's TV comments. Hulk Mir could cause bodily harm to Carwin that he'd rather avoid if possible.
Wow what's with all the Carwin has no heart talk??

UFC 111: GSP SAYS HE HAS IMPROVED AFTER 8-MONTH LAYOFF
Going to be a GREAT card. Anyone know any places in San Antonio that will be showing both UFC AND college basketball this weekend? Preferably with no cover?
That's like me questioning why you hate on Rashad any chance you get, even comparing Brock to him as a superior wrestler when they aren't anywhere near the same weight class or have any business in the same sentence together (unless of course this very sentence).
All I'm saying is, anyone fighting Mir at this point knows they will be hurt and if Carwin can't somehow get off to a good start then you'll see an easy victory for Mir. Engineering Career + Family + Living life normally > than Mir breaking your leg off or punching your eye out. I would fight Brock before I fight Mir at this point, at least Brock is content with smothering people and not causing serious bodily harm.
I am talking about what i see in the ring and on a man's resume about Rashad, you are talking about a Yoda like gut feeling you have about Shane. I love ya Stringer but there is a massive difference on that front.. Evans has vastly inferior backgrounds to guys he was compared to in my post, not a gut feeling that is based on facts. Was Evans a national champ like Brock or Koscheck or an Olympian like Hendo?? Nope.. Hendo is in Shad's weight class which i made pretty clear.. Koscheck fights 35 pds lighter than Shad.. I threw Brock in there as a back-up point.. One could easily argue, Brock's weight class is tougher to win in wrestling than Shad's was in college, considering the insane athleticism and strength you must be possess to win such a weight class.. Shane Carwin for all you know could have more heart than anyone in the UFC, but because he has yet to be tested and has a day-job to pay bills you are suggesting he is mentally weak.. Mir beat his chest about Mental toughness going into UFC 100 and then got handed a lop-sided beat-down.. Carwin may lose to Mir i picked Mir, but i doubt it will be because he does not want it as bad as Mir.. Mir is about as full of as anyone that has fought in MMA when it comes to opening their yap... This is the same guy that says "Brock should be ashamed for himself and his family for his UFC 100 antics" and then turns around and says in a radio interview he
"wants to be the first to cause an MMA related death when he fights Brock in their rubber match"
One minute he is about respect for MMA the next he is about murdering a man in the ring...

WE all make our predictions on gut feelings, nothing on paper or TV really means anything once the cage door closes. Call it Yoda, all it Revelation, call it Better's intuition...but Shane will either shock Mir in the 1st or give up before the 3rd. I've never said he was mentally weak or didn't have heart...he's been rattled and fought through it to get a KO immediately after. But Mir is a beast NOW, and the only person besides Brock that I can see who is hungry/mean enough to deal with him is Cain. Hulk Mir might be talking out of his butt when he makes threats, but I'd rather go a round with Brock than Hulk Mir. And yes, Mir is a bit hypocritical, but I prefer his "enthusiasm" to Carwin judging everyone from his pedestal calling people "terrible human beings". Hmmm, so maybe it is a little personal on my part, but not as personal as you and Rashad.
If Carwin somehow wins or at least shows he's not afraid to risk bodily injury against Mir (which means he accepts his beating past the 3rd round), I'll renounce my criticism and take back all the mean things I said. 4 DAYS!!!
Guys, carwin will be ready for a brawl and be only aware of not being taken down and be under Mir. He wants slugfest and he might 'talk' Mir into that strategy.
IMO Mir will stay outside trying to use reach with jabs, also he is faster and alusive harder to catch. he can use angels to iritate Carwin. If he will not connect in 3 minutes of the fight he might do some mistakes.
I just wonder if Shane acually will chose to bring Mir down ala Brock style. Mir said he has an answer for that strategy now. Well all in all I can't frickin wait!
This is up on TMZ this morning. Hope it's not true.
UFC's Thiago "Pitbull" Alves will not fight at Saturday's UFC 111, because a CAT Scan shows an irregularity in his brain ... TMZ has learned.
Thiago was scheduled to rumble with Jon Fitch on Saturday -- but a pre-fight CAT Scan revealed an irregularity -- a source close to 26-year-old Pitbull tells TMZ the irregularity involves an artery in the brain.
UFC honcho Dana White tells TMZ he will fly Pitbull to a specialist for further evaluation. White says, "If it's true, it can be career-ending."
No one will replace Pitbull on Saturday. The headliner is Georges St- Pierre -- ironically, the fighter who solidly beat Thiago in his last fight last July.

Oh no, that's HORRIBLE news. I've read he's a good guy, always cool with the fans and now that's he's about to get back in action there's a possibly life changing setback like this.
Well that blows both for him and me since i am going to this fight..
Damn Thiago..
Confirmed on mmajunkie:
A failed CT scan has forced UFC welterweight Thiago Alves out of a UFC 111 pay-per-view main-card bout with Jon Fitch.
The report comes from Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports, citing UFC president Dana White. New Jersey State Athletic Control Board representative Nick Lembo could not immediately be reached by MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) for comment.
A source close to the event told MMAjunkie.com Alves has been scratched from Saturday's card and confirmed the failed CT scan.
Lets change those picks guys, we'll see if Fitch still fights, sounds like he won't..
Here are my picks
Welterweight Championship bout: Georges St. Pierre (c) vs. Dan Hardy
Welterweight Championship bout: Georges St. Pierre (c) vs. Dan Hardy
Welterweight Championship bout: Georges St. Pierre (c) vs. Dan Hardy
Welterweight Championship bout: Georges St. Pierre (c) vs. Dan Hardy
and for the Main EVENT
Welterweight Championship bout: Georges St. Pierre (c) vs. Dan Hardy
Look who stuck his head out of the sand..![]()
Yeah I would have normally picked GSP but since Hardy is now Sera 2.0 I have to go with him. Sera knows GSP's weaknesses after he beat him the last time, but the 2nd time around couldnt do it cause he was too old. Hardy is gonna smash Van Damme's face in!!
Due to medical licensing issues, welterweight contender Thiago Alves has been pulled from his UFC 111 rematch with Jon Fitch this Saturday at Newark’s Prudential Center. There will be no replacement opponent brought in for Fitch, and the lightweight battle between New Jersey’s own Kurt Pellegrino and Fabricio Camoes will now be moved up to the Pay-Per-View portion of the card.
The UFC 111 card, which features the welterweight le fight between Georges St-Pierre and Dan Hardy and the interim heavyweight le bout between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin, will proceed with ten bouts.
