It's just more of that superficial bull that has absolutely nothing to do with the substance of the game. I believe the Mavs were one of the first to mic their rims. I guess Cuban believes it would hamper the "in-game" experience for the fans. Makes no sense to me, It sounds a bit like someone banging an Oriental drum and is much worse in person.

I didn't even notice teams had started mic'ing their rims until I went to a game in Houston this season. I was sitting way up in the nosebleeds, and one of Hill's shots made a swish so loud it literally made me jump. I thought it was cool, until I remembered two seconds later that, of course, every single shot can't be a swish--all that clanking off the rims gets very annoying after a while.
Is it just me, or does every NBA game Carlos Boozer plays in have a mic'd rim?
I like the mic'd rims, that's not the problem. It's our terrible PA announcer that's ruining every game. He's even worse than that guy the Spurs used to have.
I'd be able to get them to remove them if I was a player. I'd be talking into that mic every chance I got. Yelling all kind of random cuss words into it.
Instead of saying "And 1" you would here like "Vagina!!" or " Gobbler!"
LOL, but I dont think they even care I hear the cuss words on there all the time.
It's funny to hear certain NBA role-models swearing when normally they're very articulate in front of the camera
