Dallas Mavericks run afoul of San Antonio Spurs defensive principles
    by Jesse Blanchard

For all the anticipation surrounding Manu Ginobili’s return, it was the San Antonio Spurs focus and attention to details that were most sorely missed in the Game 1 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

For much of the past decade the trinity of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker carried the headlines, but it was Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich’s defensive schemes that provided the backbone for everything.

One of the understated tenets of the San Antonio Spurs defense: do not foul. And especially, do not foul jump shooters.

The final score read San Antonio Spurs 94, Dallas Mavericks 100, but another set of numbers may as well have grabbed the headlines–San Antonio Spurs 14, Dallas Mavericks 34.

problem this year vs. previous years - the veteran players that Pop wants to rely upon know the system, but don't have the skill to execute it. I know it's been said and it gets easily dismissed, but at some point Pop has no choice but to experiment with youth and ability over system knowledge. That point might not be here yet, but it sure is getting close.

"He’s also one of the most craftily clumsy players in the history of the NBA.That’s meant as a compliment. For a guy whose signature move is a fadeaway jumper, he knows how to get to the line. Barrel in, create contact, fade, shoot and fall."

Certain Spurfan can't seem to understand this.

A crybaby Spurfan called into The Ticket and he:
    1. Complained about all the Mav News (on a Dallas station)
    2. Complained about the refs and how Dirk got to the line even though "all he does is shoot J's"

The ticket proceeded to make fun of him the next couple minutes

Why are all the butthurt Spur fans posting about what the Dallas Media and Press are saying then? If no one cares then why do Spurfans keep saying how the Media thinks that Dallas is scared? According to you, no one gives a .
