It's not like there's another option.

So, for all their faults, their flaws and poor execution, they still have the talent to pull out of this series (but don't ask me about the coaching. that's another story). I think Dirk does his thing, Butler pulls his head out of his ass for one game, Marion gets the burn he deserves in the second half, we see less of Barea and Terry together (ugh), Dampier scores a basket, Stevenson gets the chance to check a guard and we finally see what Roddy B can do in meaningful playing time. s. What's the worst that can happen? it. Rick has to have the sense to play ever bullet in the chamber. If not, Mike Bacsik will Tweet about killing him.

The Spurs' Big 3 won't all collectively have a bad game again. Duncan will get his, but I'm looking at another down game for Manu while his schnoz continues to bother him. Hill comes back down to Earth, as does Blair. Jefferson offers discount rimjobs in the locker room after the game. You know, the usual.

On pride alone, the Mavs win 101-91.

Betting line opened at -4, saw -4.5 this afternoon and it's now sitting at -5.

Beyond Game 5? Beats the out of me. I never know with this team anymore.

Let me guess... you'd bet they win, or you won't post again until next year?

Odds are the Mavs will probably win, 4 losses in a row (2 at home) are very hard to get on a playoff team that's ranked higher than you and heavily favored.

Wait a minute, ok, not including 2006, these guys have to have some pride, right?

Oh you might get mocked. But I think the nets take that this year. Or the knicks, who are just chilling until they get a free agent.

it's going to be difficult for the Spurs to match their intensity coming out of the gate. i think the mavs will take the 1st quarter convincingly in this game. if not, they'll be deflated big-time and will push the panic button.

That's just a masked way to get out of the ribbing when your team drops out of the playoffs. I'll be here to take it. No need for the self-mandated vacation.

    gotta disagree...

spurs will be super-focused and will close out the series with a convincing win (another one)...to give themselves time to rest/heal

dallas will try to put up a brave front---but when the spurs fight back and make their run---the mavs will call it a season

I disagree. Hill was on Earth visiting for a couple games then returned to outerspace where he was maxin before the injury.

I predict a slaughter. The Big Three been here, smell the blood and want a small vacay before next round.

    Valiant effort though.

I hope that's not the case; I'd like to see the Spurs close it out and get the job done. But I will not surprise me at all if they do. My original prediction and my fake $ were on 6, I stand by it.

But I'd be overjoyed to be wrong in our favor.

Not a ing chance. I'm sure Pop will have a life sized cutout of that Najera cheap shot on the locker room door. No need for any speeches with that up.

Spurs win, going away. They're actually pretty damn goo in elimination games WITHOUT Najera-like motivation.

I wouldn't say the Mavs winning game 5 is a foregone conclusion. It depends on several things.

    1. Egos: it requires that the players put their egos aside for the sake of not being eliminated 4-1. Unfortunately, there are some very selfish players on that Mav roster. Marion and Haywood have openly complained about minutes (Haywood is in a contract year) and Butler has probably said as much behind closed doors.

    2. Return of Big Three: you have to account for the fact that the Big 3 will have a rebound game. I doubt you get another 4 point game from Duncan.

    3. Belief: do they have the will to win the game if it is close and they don't truly believe they can win. None of those guys have ever been champions. Most have lost, and lost bitterly in the playoffs. The Mavs have historically cratered in the playoffs and if they are not mentally strong and the game is close, I'm not sure they can summon the extra effort it takes to win.

Of course, if the Mavs win this one, they are off the respirator and the pressure will be on the Spurs to close out.

If Hill doesn't go off in game 5, Parker or Gino (or both) probably will. Blair is starting to look more and more comfortable on the floor and it seems likely that Tim will play more like he did in games 1-3 than he did in game 4.

I expect game 5 to be a battle, but this healthy Spurs team has too many weapons for the Mavs to defend.

Wouldn't shock me. The question is how they win it.

If they win it because Dirk goes off for 50 and still isn't getting help and the Mavs win by 3, then no worries. If Butler and Kidd and Marion (well, okay, lol, not Marion, let's be serious) find a groove, then the Spurs are going to have some work cut out for them.

Carlisle needs to stop reacting and start dictating matchups. Although Butler has made his share of mistakes, they need to play him. At home, I would think he would play Marion more too.

    Less JJ, more Beaubois.
