Zone Defense

Is there a great team that run zones as much as the Mavs! I know it gives teams problems but good teams adjust(like the Spurs have)! But to me its says your to sorry to man up & your coach has no faith in your help defense! What do yal think?

the mavs actually run a very good zone defense, and have the type of personel to run it well, having guys who like to play passing lanes, double off their man to help others on defense in Kidd, Butler, Terry, Marion, and Dirk.

the problem is they don't always mix it up correctly. they play it for extended periods of time, instead of going back to man for a while, then back to a zone to keep the offense guessing. i personally think they should run some more zone, just mix it up a little better. they might as well since they have those kinds of guys who like to double off, so they end up leaving their man open for 3s anyways. might as well completely shut off any penetration if you are going to do that.
