Maybe Wade will show you guys his ring, you know, the one from 2006...
Yeah and how exactly are u getting dwhistle?
Given some of the particulars with Dampier's contract -- it's not fully guaranteed for next season, which means (as I understand it) that he can be traded and immediately waived for cap relief without a cap hit -- Dallas actually does have the pieces to do a sign-and-trade for a max player without really doing too much damage to its core.
That doesn't mean it will happen; it just means that it could happen.
Thank you.
wade and dirk
not gonna happen tho![]()
good photoshopping but still...
YOU are a DUMMY
The only 2 jobs Mavs need to get done this summer are 1. fire carlisle and hire someone with a brain to coach this team and 2. trim all the re s the off their krew. Mavs krew used to be the badass but recently it's shown some proclivity of getting tainted by some re s like the OP, which I have cautiously discerned.
The Dallas media is actually pretty critical of Rick C for his lineups and rotations during the series. Some have called for RC's head. Some of the guys at the Ticket 1310 have called him a know it all who won't listen to anyone.
Dampier is such a mediocre player it may be hard for Dallas to get good just for the cap relief of Dampier's contract.
The more likely source of cap relief for teams will be a work stoppage in 2011.
true. Even if they got such a team willing to take his contract for only cap relief, they wouldn't get what they expected from the deal. Maybe they need to patch Butler's contract to bulk up the total salary, which creates room for them to absorb a bad contract like Matt Carroll. Mavs are one superstar away from where they want to be, not semi-stars that they've got bags of, like Marion, Butler, JET, etc.
Maybe they'll need to add Roddy also to e up the deal... every try will be worthwhile only if the deal brings Dallas/Dirk a strong helping hand.
Man, I doubt any player wants to come to the Mavs. Kind of like how you wonder what kind of people could actually be fans of that team
That sounds a whole lot like the problem that Cuban had with Avery Johnson, as I hear it. Of course, if he fires Carlisle now, that will make two know-it-all coaches that Cuban will be paying to not coach his team.
If you're Miami and you're going to lose Wade because he's chosen to sign with Dallas, I'd think you'd take a contract like Dampier's because you just immediately clear the decks and start all over. If you can somehow get Roddy B or something like that, all the better. But there's value for a one-star team that's going to lose its superstar to start all over, one would think.
As I understand it, the contracts of Marion and Terry are basically toxic -- too long and/or too much money for what they actually give a team.
how about just remove the dallas owner.
I dont see any value in Dampier's contract to Miami, when they pay absolutely nothing if Wade just walks outright. Dallas has no leverage to force a sign and trade when they could only offer Wade MLE if Dirk stays, and $8-$9 million starting if Dirk walks and they cut Dampier (assuming not a cent of his $13M is guaranteed). I guess Wade could threaten to go to Chicago and Miami might figure a duo of Beaubois+Haywood plus Dampier's nonguaranteed deal might be better than nothing, but usually teams aren't going to trade a franchise guy like Wade unless he can walk straight to that team he's trying to force the trade to. I like Beaubois, but I'm not sure you throw Wade away to get him; I think Riley would call on Wade's hand.
