School Board slapped down the Principal, and rightly so. The kids were allowed to wear their stuff after all.

would these kids have worn flags on their shirts during Octoberfest or on St. Patricks day? Because cinco de mayo is the mexican version of that. The kids 1st amendment rights impeded, but if the school found there was a disruption or risk of violence, there are SC cases that would uphold the restriction. The school district was trying to avoid lawsuits and bad publicity by not backing the school.
The kid who is half mexican (like me) is full of . We can be americans with ethnic backgrounds. His statement makes no sense.

This has nothing to do with Bacsik's comments.
That said, punishing kids for wearing an American flag is incredibly stupid and an obvious violation of free speech. There is nothing incendiary about wearing a shirt with the flag.
Just another principal showing bad judgment.
By the way, people need to let the Bacsik thing go. He made a mistake, he apologized for it, and it's time to move on.
