Many of us, myself included thought this team was dead in February.

We watched in horror as Pop tinkered with a rotation featuring Keith Bogans as a starter, Roger Mason as a sixth man and Matt Bonner as the first big off the bench.

Then we thought they were dead in March when the Lakers came to town minus Gasol and kicked our asses.

When we landed the 7 seed, all the NBA pundits proclaimed us dead in 5 games at the hands of Dirk Nowitzki.

Face it Spurs fans, this has been the year of the unexpected.

In the Tim Duncan era, never has a Spurs team been such an underdog. Never has a Gregg Popovich team been such an afterthought.

We are now down 3-zip to a Phoenix Suns team that has beaten us with lights out three point shooting not seen since that guy Jaren Jackson shot the Wolves, Lakers and Blazers into oblivion in 1999.

Goran Dragic last night played the best 12 minutes anyone not named Kobe Bryant has ever played at the AT&T Center.

The Spurs are shooting a worse percentage from the free throw line than the Suns are from beyond the arc.

I for one think that can change as quickly as Carmelo Anthony back peddles after throwing a punch.

I've been a fan of this team since 1990 when David Robinson's raw athleticism and consumate professionalism captivated me as a fan. I for one am not ready to call it a season. Not just yet.

Now we can all sit here and complain on an Internet message board, calling for hirings, firings and the like or we can get behind our team and watch as they make history.

We're not playing the 2001 LA Lakers here folks.

This is a beatable team. Goran Dragic ain't gonna do that again. You can't shoot 60% on threes every night.

We're playing a jump shooting team with no interior defense that happens to be in a groove.

Let's get physical, show them they're not in Club Med and leave everything on the floor. It takes 4 wins to close out a series. happens, people get hurt, confidence comes and goes in this game.

    We can do this.

Face it Spurs fans, this has been the year of the unexpected.

    Why stop now?

I am with you on this, but if Parker's injured, which HAS come to be expected this year, could hamper our chances. Go Spurs Go!

Have the Spurs delivered ONE hard playoff foul this series? I seem to recall RJ getting called for a flagrant in the last series, but thats it.

Frustrating doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about the Spurs not laying a finger on the Sun's 50 year old point guard.

Suns are living the jump-shooters dream in this series, I can't recall the last time I saw a team cash in on so many wide open looks. You're right, that confidence can be disrupted/overturned, and I think the best way to do it is to get physical, very physical in this next game. What have we got to lose?

Thats just sad for an NBA team but i like your post. Was thinking the same today . If there's team that can do it, it's the Spurs. Im always the eternal optimist when it comes this team so i'll be rooting for them tonight. They just have to take it one game at a time .

One positive out of a totallly deflating game was how confident Manu was looking with his scoring. His teammates wilting under pressure didn't capitalize on Manu rising to the occasion going into 4th. Look how the Suns just kept going back Dragic. As Tim would say let Manu get comfortable with the ball in his hands and take it from there.

We're playing a jump shooting team with no interior defense that happens to be in a groove.
This is why im still in shock about being 3 nil down. Spurs need to bring it aggressive on both ends.

Great post. I have been on vacation during most of this round and am still in shock how fast it has gone to . I just want to see one more Spurs win. After that, who knows?

The French have a phrase: "pour sauver l'honneur". (to save one's honor)

Spurs MUST sauver l'honneur by refusing to be swept, at very least. If the Spurs must be eliminated, they must land at least one solid punch.

A win tonight could instill confidence for taking Game5, and then back to SA for Game6.

You're right, this has been the most schizophrenic of seasons. The first game of season we come out and play lights out and demolish an up and coming rival in the Hornets. I remember watching that first game thinking this team's potential was so high. It was like we were in mid-season form that very first game. The chemistry seemed incredible. Our offense and defense seemed unstoppable.

Then in the very next game we get our asses kicked every which way by a young Bulls team. We lacked energy, cohesiveness and toughness. We played like paper tigers and were thoroughly dismantled.

The entire season was like that; up one night, down in the gutter the next. The only thing I can expect from this team is the unexpected.

Win one game. That's all I want for today.

Great post. Now that's a true fan. Those are my thoughts as well.

I wish I had read this before posting similar thoughts in another thread. Except you articulated them much better. Well done.

Given the Playoff history between these two teams, is there any other team more likely to lose a 3-0 lead than the Suns vs. the Spurs? Wouldn't that just complete the legacy?

Indeed it's the year of the unexpected. I believe nobody expected the Suns to sweep the Spurs.

I'm hoping the Spurs were just being kind, and spotted the Suns a 3 game lead...
