There is no possibility.
i really hope we get Scola this summer .. his a free agent ..
There is no possibility.
Can you explain why we wouldnt be able to get him? From what I know he loves the Spurs. How much do you think he will be asking for? I dont know much about how contracts all the different rules work when it comes to that stuff. So please forgive me for being curious.
is he friends with manu? if so, seems he'd like to play with manu on the same team.
The Spurs only have the midlevel exception to sign free agents outright. It is very likely the Rockets would match such an offer. Anyway the Spurs are more likely to use the midlevel on Splitter.
It'd be a mistake even if it was possible. Spurs don't need anymore undersized players.
Thanks ChumpDumper for your insight. I dont know much about this kind of stuff, but I'm sure I'll learn over the summer
Oh yes, you'll see a lot of this talk here and in the think tank. Bruno is the best source of information on that kind of thing.
I suppose some kind of trade could happen, but that seems just as unlikely to me.
Louis?
And Chump missed it?
I got someone better.
His name is Tiago Splitter
They also call him.. 'The savior'...
Please don't this up Pop and R.C.
You'd think they'd learn their lesson from trading Scola away to divisional rival.
even with Pop's & RC's comments about expecting a "low activity" summer with no big deals, I bet it won't damper ST's 2 dozen a day blockbuster deal ideas.
Offseason entertainment nevertheless...
Well one of my friends who is a regular season ticket holder said that she saw him at the game last night waiting around for Manu. Pretty interesting anyways. Oh and don't forget the other Spurs playoff game he went to in Dallas.
That makes it even less possible.
no...shut up and die already.
The best chance you got to have Scola here is to do a sign n trade with Houston, they will most likely want one bigmen in return, so you either give them Blair or you resign Bonner and send him along with cash considerations (for them to waive him) and Splitter rights.
I donŽt think by any means that Splitter is a better player than Scola, but i think he is somewhat more appropiate for the Spurs, as McDyess isreally a PF, Blair is a PF and Duncan is the only legit C we have. Scola would be just another PF, evendoe he plays C very well on offense he really lacks on defense in that position.
What to do next year? YouŽll have at least 3 millions of the MLE on Splitter, and after that you get 2.5 millions of the Midlevel and the Bi-anual exception and some minium salary exceptions if needed.
So you sign Splitter for as long and as cheaper as you can, and you use what is left from the MLE on the best 3pt shooting 3 you can get. Given what we saw this playoffs i would try to add as much 3pt shooters as i could, and if possible i would try to trade Nocioni for Jefferson, i think he fits very nice what we look for on a SF, he plays very good PF if needed and doesnŽt need a lot of shots.
after proving that he can score consistently and take big roles scola is likely to be rocket's first option, too bad.
he's not a great defender though.
Yeah, in part because he is my countrymen and in part because he has did it throuout his career i expect him to improve that this offseason, and i expect to see him a lot better already by World Championship with Argentina.
He has always been a hard worked and has always improve his game on whatever aspect the compe ion forced him to. Like he improved a lot his JS in Spain, or how he improved his rebounding to come to the NBA i have no doubt he will improve his defense, he already improved a lot his PnR defense and i expect him to become a better one on one defender.
when did scola become french?
i dont really care for scola at this point in the career. yeah maybe early on when the spurs couldnt afford him. id rather move on.
Scola isnt available. Perhaps you are interested in Jackie Butler?
