I like him as a bench guy. He's relatively young and coming out of Minnie he might have something to prove.

Partially guaranteed contract, I'm not sure if Minny will waive him or not.

I just don't see how he really fits the team. I like him and I'd much rather see him out there in small-ball sets than Jefferson, but how does he help them defensively or with stretching the floor?
More of a tweener PF/SF than a legit small forward.
Love his game, but I don't think he's the type of player the Spurs need.
Even though his 3 point shooting would be an asset, Spurs need someone at the SF position that can stay in front of their man after recovering from hard close outs and in one on one situations. He would be our worst perimeter defender in this regard.
He will probably cost more than the LLE as well. IMO
Pass. Great kid, but I was delighted when Ainge got rid of him. No defensive position, mediocre rebounder at the 4, average shooter, no shot-creation skills - no the type of role-player I like.
It is unclear if Gomes will actually play for the Blazers next season. His contract, which runs through the 2012-2013 season, features a team option that must be exercised by June 30 and would guarantee the final two years at more than $4 million per season. If the Blazers elect not to exercise the option and waive Gomes, they would be on the hook for only $1 million this season and $2 million over the final two years.
Potentially, the Blazers could shave salary from their payroll and add salary cap flexibility.

I think we waive him, SF depth is way too deep
would be crazy to keep him on this contract, when the buy out is that cheap. (and I do like Gomes.)
I like him a lot, but we need a lockdown perimeter defender, and he is not that.
After the Splitter signing (finger crossed), Spurs shouldn't be able to offer more than $2M to other FAs. With that kind of salary, you cna't be too picky.
Gomes isn't perfect but he is a good player who can be matched against big SFs and also have a small ball PF role. If Spurs can get him for $2M, it's a no-brainer to me.
Team president Larry Miller said the Blazers will probably release newly acquired forward Ryan Gomes in order to avoid taking on the remaining three seasons of his contract.
The team has until Tuesday to make a decision, but Miller said he has already told Gomes' agent not to fly him to Portland.

Ive always been kind of a fan and I think he could fit in terms of offense.
Blazers plan to release Ryan Gomes, acquired in trade with Minnesota

Gomes was acquired from Minnesota during Thursday's draft for the draft rights to the 16th overall pick, Luke Babbitt, and Blazers forward Martell Webster.
Re: Ryan Gomes. Blazers insist they have not made a decision on his future with team, despite Larry Miller's comments to The O last week.

He'll be waived even if he's traded again.
would be very surprising, if they keep him.
on the other hand, they don't know what Babbitt will deliver in his 1st year and if he struggles, they are pretty thin at the SF spot. Gomes is a proven player, who is a nice option for the backup SF spot and also as small ball PF. Blazers usually don't need to look at the pay roll like other teams do.
they also once more add several young players (Babbitt, Williams, Johnson), they will need some veteran leadership.
rumor Raptors close to sign him for the MLE
Ugh. I hope that's not true. Does not bode well for the Spurs chances of finding a serviceable SF for the BAE if guys like Gomes start getting full MLE.
Yup, a no-brainer, but he was never going to settle for 2m. He's a legit NBA starter.
Gomes agreed to 3 years /12 million from the Clippers.
fair deal IMO.
