Nice analysis Brodels.
I have a feeling that Glenn Robinson will have a huge game.
What are the keys for the Spurs tonight? For the Sonics?
Spurs keys:
- Hang in there at the beginning. Key Arena is going to be rockin' and the Sonics will likely come out with a lot of energy and passion.
- Establish Tim early. It's known that Seattle is going to try harder to make Parker and Ginobili beat them from the outside. The Spurs have dominated on the offensive end because those two have made things happen by getting in the lane. If Duncan starts the game by asserting his presence, it will just open things up for everyone else later.
- Get easy buckets. It's sometimes hard to get fast break points in the playoffs on the road. The Spurs have to run when opportunities exist to do so.
- Give Allen some different looks on defense. Ginobili did a good job against him the other night, and even Barry was serviceable. Bowen will get most of the minutes, but all of those defenders bring different things to the table. Mixing things up a little bit will make it more difficult for Ray, and as a consequence of that, for Rashard.
Sonics:
- It important that they start well. If they have a poor start, they could be looking at getting swept.
- Run Allen, Ridnour, and Rashard off some screens to free them up. They are capable perimeter shooters, and the Sonics haven't accomplished anything by going to the bucket in this series. If they can create some open shots and get them, the inside will become easier to utilize.
- Keep Tony and Manu out of the lane. That's a key for any Spurs opponent, and it's easier said than done. They also need to take some chances defensively. Let Nazr's defender roam a little bit. Let Bruce's defender help. If you've got to choose, make Nazr take short jumpers or make Bowen beat you. It's been too easy for Parker and Ginobili.
- Rebound. The Spurs rebound well, and the Sonics could really benefit from some second opportunities.
Other notes:
I friggin' hate 10:30 starts. I don't have cable so I have to go to a bar for every single one of these games, and it's difficult to convince the bar staff to stay past 1 a.m. I get to bed at 2:00 or so and the alarm goes off at 6:00. The playoffs are killing me.

"The playoffs are killing me."
Try it from Europe where NBA games START between 1 - 4 AM.
I have that same feeling, maybe not huge but I don't expect him to miss very many shots tonight.....
Spurs are going to need to come out with lots of energy and hope that the big 3 can will be there dominating selves.
How many fouls does Bowen get today?
I say four or five.
OK game underway
Nazr gets a rebound then later fould Ray Allen. He makes both
TiMmy makes a jumper - jerome james makes hook then tim misses
NAZR with the dunk after Ray misses
4-4
Refs calling the fouls
Barry with one after offensive rbd
Rashard makes both
So... we're in a hostile environment and Pop runs two straight offensive plays for Bruce Bowen?
Did the league pay us to tank the damn game or something? WTF Pop?
jACK NIES!!!!!!!!!
Spurs should probably just sit tim down and rest him for game 4
It was off fastbreak, Bowen was being greedy.
Dude, shot clock was running down. It wasnt called for Bowen. I know you hate Pop,, but every bad play is not cuz of him.
spurs need to withstand the storm
Manu will help to turn this around!
Well they have already succeeded in doing one thing that they had to avoid and that was coming out flat. its up to Ginobilli yet again to get this team playing hard since Popp as usual is incapable. I am not even close to panicing yet but the Spurs had to know they were going to have to come out with more energy than this. They look as flat as I have seen them this year.
Seattle is playing 3 ft off the ball on our guards. We are going to have to have the balls to take shots and the ability to make them.
Ray Allen push off foul Spurs ball
Manu makes everything go right!
