KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- High level sources in multiple conferences have told KCTV5 that Texas and Texas A&M are looking to move to the Big Ten Conference and are in talks to join the conference, while the University of Oklahoma is planning on pe ioning the Southeastern Conference to become a member of its conference.
KCTV5's sources said that Texas and Texas A&M do not have to include Texas Tech or Baylor in their plans. Sources told KCTV5 that there have already been discussions about the two schools entering the Big Ten and that the agreement could be made as soon as Thursday.
Oklahoma is currently working on pe ioning to enter the SEC, but must find another university to enter the league with them, sources said. TMZ Sports has reported that Oklahoma State is likely to accept a bid to move to the Pac-10. Earlier Thursday, Colorado accepted an invitation to join the Pac-10.
790 the Zone in Atlanta reported Thursday afternoon that the SEC is offering invitations to Texas A&M and Virginia Tech to join the conference.
KCTV5's sources also said that some Big 12 officials are saying decisions on which deals Big 12 schools take invitations by the end of the day Thursday, although the deals may not be officially announced.
Those decisions would leave the University of Kansas, Kansas State University and the University of Missouri with Baylor, Texas Tech and Iowa State in the Big 12. The Missouri Board of Curators met Thursday and planned to meet Friday to discuss the future of Missouri sports.

Who knows what to believe anymore. Every hour brings 2 fresh rumors.
"sources" = college sports bloggers
Might as well be Greek.
KC TV needs better sources. Just listen to Chip on this one
Why? he is still preaching that the 6 Big 12 teams when the Commish of the Pac-10 has said that no other invites have been offered and Chip Brown as all but said they have already been issued.
I see what you did there and I like it......![]()
hoh! boy! looks like mookie was dead wrong about this summer----CORRRRRSOOO
And yet my question is this:
What does chump dumper have against chip ketchum?
Pac10.... Big10.... When are Texas and Texas A&M Expected to make their moves?
I wonder if ND has already told the B10 no so they went to UT.
I think the Big 10 went to ND first and ND said obviously said no, so the Big 10 asked Nebraska with the intent to ask more, because bringing in just Nebraska doesn't make sense in terms of moving into more TV markets.
The Big 10 wants either Texas or Notre Dame, and in a wet dream scenario would stop a 14 if A&M went to the SEC and Texas and Notre Dame both joined the Big 10.
agreed.
I find it funny that the source of this information comes from neither a Texas based source or a Big 10 based source........just somewhere in between.......
and it seems to me that in one of these other threads that the Pac 10 implicitly denied giving out invites to anyone but CU......as well as flatly denying the Okie St to Pac 10 reports....
There is a large law firm in KC that does work with the NCAA. Maybe that is a source of theirs.
But who knows. I found it odd that a TV station out of KC would break that story. I would expect someone out of either Chicago, Columbus, or Austin to break a story like that.
exactly
Come on Texas! Come to the Pac-10! Hotter chicks and better weather!![]()

NY Times:
WHAT’S NEXT? In the short term, the Pac-10 appears to be on course to expand to 16 teams by early next week. Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech seem likely to join Colorado in the Pac-10. Twitter jokes about having the conference’s west and east division named “Surf” and “Turf” have already popped up.
The only thing that could save the Big 12 is a stunning change of heart by linchpin teams or by governmental action. Neither looks imminent.
“It sounds like by next week this Texas and Pac-10 thing will come together,” said a Big 12 athletic director who asked to remain anonymous because he was not allowed to speak publicly. “It’s probably a little more complicated and sensitive than we realize, as we didn’t know how many problems would be associated with this.”
ANY 11TH-HOUR SURPRISES? Texas A&M could be the wild card. Some news media reports have linked the Aggies with the Southeastern Conference, but it is hard to imagine what value Texas A&M gives the league if it does not bring along a longtime rival, Texas. Still, the Aggies have shown more interest in the SEC than any other Big 12 university has.
But SEC Commissioner Mike Slive does not want change in his league. He likes the size and collegiality of his conference, although he has maintained publicly that he would make a move if there is a “paradigm shift.”
The Pac-10’s going to 16 teams could create that shift, particularly if it appears that the newly realigned conference could get two bids to the Bowl Championship Series.
eh. sooner or later they'll join the Big 10, imo.
They can try to hold out for a few more years, but in the end I don't think they have much of a choice.
The only person worth listening to on this is Chip Brown. He's been on this story since everyone thought it was crazy. He's been on top of things this whole time.
Should Nebraska leave, he's saying the only wrench of everyone to PAC is A&M to SEC. Even still, that would likely mean PAC extends an invite to Kansas or Utah.
people, including Catholics, like money.
And lose their BCS leverage, that would be funny. They will have to make a move sooner or later.
Exactly. At the end of the day or whenever all this expansion stuff is settled Jack Swarbrick will tote the same line as the Texas AD:
We did everything we could to stay/save independent/Big 12 but in the end ya da ya da ya.
UT is not going to the Pac 10. Mark these words.
He also said that Nebraska wouldn't leave...in his defense, its not official.
