Haven't tried any of those places yet, but Goomba's on Blanco is pretty good.
I came to the sudden, great realization that there are other places than pizza hut and little cesars to get your pizza on.
These are my top 5 pizza places in SA in order and I'd like to hear yours:
5) chicago pizza, blanco rd
4) Florio's pizza, broadway
3) Sapore's pizza, hillcrest dr.
2) Dough napoletana, blanco rd
1) Grimaldi's, La Cantera pkwy
Haven't tried any of those places yet, but Goomba's on Blanco is pretty good.
Big Lou's Pizza is awesome.
Goomba's is good. I was going to put them but I wanted to have a chicago-style place on my list.
Oh, and as a disclaimer, the only reason I don't have fralo's on my list is because I haven't gone there yet. I'm sure it will be high, from what I've heard.
1. Grimaldi's
2. Naples
3. Florios
4. Sorrentos
5. Goombas.
for those of you who don't know...
dough has been VERY highly rated. I think zagat's has it as san antonio's best restaurant. Rachel ray's crew has dough as the best pizza place in texas.
I prefer grimaldi's though. It's authentic brick oven pizza from brooklyn. They even have s person whose sole job is to treat the water used for the dough so that the dough is exactly like the one from brooklyn.
and sapore's is a little hole in wall in balcones heights. Just simple thin crust pizza with simple italian seasoning.
and sometimes simple is underrated. Oh yeah, and the cook/owner is named guiseppe and he's italian.
Naples...sorrentos...
thanks DT, two more places on my hit list.
Yeah but can you stuff your crust with cheese at any of those places?
Are any of you hold outs and have NOT tried the new Domino's pizza?
Florio's is my favorite![]()
Big Lou's on WW White is great. I have never had better outside of New York.
There's a new one called Kennedy's off Potranco and 151 that's pretty good.
Naples used to be good but I got a hawaiian and they used canned pineapples.....yuch.
#1 SORRENTOS WITH OUT A DOUBT.
Grimaldi's is phenomenal.
I recently discovered BOBOLI pizza boxes.
8 pizzas in 1 box, and it comes with 8 pizza sauces ready to go.
Just open the sucker up, put the sauce on, get your own cheeses out and put it on top, if you want, put your own meats on top, and bam, throw that in the oven for 8 minutes, delicious home made pizza.
boboli has great tasting crust![]()
I used to eat that all the time when I was younger but they only sold the crust, which is great. Had to make my own sauce, cheese, toppings.
had florio's tonight.
Luciano is pretty damn good too.
BOBOLI only takes 8 minutes to cook.
I need my pizza fast or I start slappin es.
Don't live in SA and this is probably not the most "authentic" but I love me some Villa Pizza
don't tell you're one of those re s that prefers chicago pizza.
still better than the korean picked dishes that you eat on diet.
