If that scenario would play out, it would be foolish for LeBron to leave Cleveland. This would mean that they lost in 6 games to the eventual champions and gave them a pretty good fight. You could make a case that they were the 2nd best team in the NBA this year.

A few reasons why it would be foolish to leave.

-The Celtics are up there in age so they are not gonna be able to be elite for much longer. If LeBron can just stay in Cleveland, the Cavs could become the best team in the league as soon as next year depending on the Celtics decline

-The Cavs are a back2back 60+ win team. thats no easy feat and he could lose that real quick if he took a gamble on another team

-People knee jerked after the Cavs loss to the Celtics. Now that he has time to think about it, he should realize that Cleveland is not far off at all from winning a championship.

Championships are not easy to come by. LeBron is already in a great spot to compete for a le every year so why would he risk it?

he needs to go to Jersey. young talent, great draft pick, cap space and an owner willing to spend moer than that, and it's a big market. that's where he's going. book it.

Doesn't matter if Celtics win or not. Cavs lose their two centers (good or not, at the very least it hurts their front court depth), and if they're able to re-sign LeBron, they have no cap space to add anyone significant and zero assets in quality young players and/or draft picks to make a big move this off-season. The Cavs roster is still screwed even if they keep LeBron. LeBron has to see that. There are multiple better situations for LeBron to go that make a lot more sense in terms of being surrounded by talent.

Plus, LeBron can't only look at the Celtics being the main obstacle in the East. With the free agent picture this summer, what if a team like the New Jersey Nets add Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to go with Brook Lopez and Devin Harris? Or what if Bosh joins Wade in Miami? Or perhaps Amare makes Chicago a real contender. Boston might be old, but they likely won't be the biggest or only obstacle for the next upcoming seasons.
