that white thing by the tree right? thats what I see, it looks like a Turkey, one of those white turkeys they whack for butterball
was it out running around there?
Ok, so I was driving near UTSA and Valero this morning when I saw this:
My question is....
WTF is it?????
I can't find any descriptions of it, and I know the picture sucks, but maybe someone here will have a clue.

Yeah, I thought it was a turkey too when I first saw it, but it was almost pure white. It had this wierd thing on the top of it's head and the feathers all around it's neck and chest were all ruffled.
I thought about getting out of the car to get a better picture (all I had was my damn phone) but I didn't want to spook it. It was weird man.
I wonder if it's good eating?![]()
That's a road.
Was the head covered in white feathers like the body? If so, don't kill it. If not, I got dibs on a leg! :p
Yeah, I think it was all white.
That's a pretty good picture from a camera-phone, Manny. What kind?
It's a bottom of the line Nokia camerphone. I don't know the model number but it was the cheapest one they had.
it's a chupacabra

It might be a kind of egret or stork. If it is bald, like with short downy feathers on the head it might just be a baby. There are a lot of different species of storks and many are VERY VERY VERY ILLEGAL to kill in Texas. Depending on the type you can receive jailtime, fines, and have to pay res ution for the animal to the state. If they catch you with the animal in your car they will confiscate your vehicle too! And the res ution for some endangered species is very high, around $25,000 to $50,000. For some species it's illegal to even posses a single feather from a bird. Even one that you find lying on the ground can get you in trouble. Although, killing is fun, stick to pigeons. You can kill them all year around, by any means and it's perfectly legal. Squirrels too!
Definetly not a stork or an egret. It looked a lot like a turkey, but I wrote it off as not a turkey because of the white color.

Whooping crane.
Check this pdf file. It has an identification chart on it for Texas species.

That is a white or snowy egret (aka cowbird). They are certainly not endangered, but I don't know why you would want to kill one, as they are quite beneficial. They follow behind and eat the bugs that cows, cars, equipment, etc. scatter. You can even see them perched on the back of grazing cows out in the pasture, waiting for a grasshopper or moth to fly out of the grass. Generally not very afraid of humans, especially if you are kicking up bugs. During mating season the head of the male turns a reddish-brown tint.
they got those White Turkeys they slaughter and use for like Butterball it might have escaped the ax man!
now i'm worried if its not a turkey then what is it? its a harbringer of the Apocalypse or something...first the Spurs lose a game last night, Jerome James goes off like Oscar Robertson, and White Birds coming into town, i'm getting away from these things now!!!!
seriously though i bet its a turkey, those ones they slaughter i mean they're white like that if anyone's seen them before?
Yeah, definetly not a crane or an egret, the neck was much too short. This was a really squat bird.
SWC, I looked up those birds, and they all come up with different pictures.
maybe a pheasant? There's one that lives in my neighborhood that looks similar to that.
that is a white turkey hen. Possibly a male but if so it is a young one and hasn't developed the red head yet...
It's CC's DONT KILL IT!!!!![]()

Damn! That could have been food for the next GTG at Kori's!![]()
In Arkansas I believe it's legal to eat roadkill.
Dude... that is NOT a pheasant.....
Could be a Guinea hen. I've seen white ones before.
nope...it is a white turkey...100% positive...guineas are shorter and rounder and don't have the long wing feathers...
It's not only legal...it is MANDATORY!
