I think that as long as jerome james is on the court, Rasho should be there too. On defense, Rasho has more playoff experience than Nazr and he gets his share of rebounds, although not as well as Nazr. If Rasho can run on his ankle, I'm sure that he can keep up with james.
More importantly, Rasho is an offensive threat. And, unlike Nazr, he does not have fumbleitis when Manu or Tony give him a quick pass.
I also liked the lineup early in the first qtr. when Ginobili, Rasho, Duncan, Parker and Barry were on the floor (Ginobili replaced Bowen with 7:54 left in first qtr, Rasho replaced Nazr with 6:47 left in first qtr). The score was Sonics 13, Spurs 8 when Rasho came in. There was one more change during this rally, Horry for Duncan at 6:22. With this lineup, Barry made 2 threes, Manu did his thing, and Rasho scored with passes from Horry and Parker.
I know that Bowen is necessary to keep Allen in check, but for about a 4 minute spell in the first, the Spurs rallied to come back and lead with the forementioned players. I think the reason was that they had more offensive punch.
PS--you noticed that james is not capitalized. He gets no respect, no respect.

So... Nazr has one so-so game and you're ready to bench him? Talk about knee jerk...

The run in at the end of the first came about because of Manu, not Rasho.

No, no. I am not reasy to bench Nazr because he had a so-so- game. My point is that Rasho, our regular starting center who is recovering from an injury, should get his starting position again if he can run as well as james. If james is out, then Nazr needs to be there to guard a faster man. I also think the Spurs need more offense from the center position. I like Nazr. But he does not have Rasho's experience.

Nazr looks like he has been doing just fine to me. He is a monster on the glass, and why put Rasho in there and risk him when he is not ready? Pop knows what he is doing.

Did you ever stop to think maybe Rasho still isn't 100%? Just curious...

I also think the Spurs need more offense from the center position.
Nazr gets his offense off of the offensive glass. We don't need more offense from the C spot, we need to use what we've got at SG, PG, and PF more effectively.

Nazr got 3 RBs in 16 minutes. Extrapolating to 32 minutes, like the other starters, that's only 6 rebounds, the same as Manu.

Which is really a horrible game for Nazr, since RB is his primary role.

So let's look for him Sunday to get his RB's back up to where they have been, 10+.

You can't really extrapolate how many rebounds a guy would have in a game from playing only a certain number of minutes. It's too limited in scope to process. I think either Rasho or Nazr should have been in the game instead of Horry.

I am assuming that Rasho is not 100% and that he still has a tender ankle. I am also assuming that Pop is saving him for a later series. My only point is IF Rasho can run and keep up with james when james is in the game, then his playoff experience not to mention his familiarity with Spurs offense/defense would be beneficial. Like I said before, I like Nazr and I respect his strong rebounding game.

YOu can't extrapolate. There were games late in the season where Nazr went out and got 8 boards in just the fourth.

    ok, no extrapolate.
3 RBs in 16 minutes sucks.
I'm looking for him to fix that Sunday.

That is what I was thinking. You talk about Rasho should be a starter again when Nazr doesn't play that well or get much playing time in one game. He has done very well for us and he will do very well on Sunday as a starter like he has been since Rasho been out.

Considering that you are best known for wanting to take the ball out of Tim Duncan's hands late in games you should pity yourself.

Yeah, it sure worked out well last night, didn't it?

In some instances, I have no problem with it. But when he's gotten the beat out of him all night long by 5 different Sonics, it's dumb.

Mohammed has his first bad game prob since the mavericks game 3 or some odd weeks ago, and now he should be benched??

His rebounding was bad last night true, but Nesterovic wasnt much better.

IMO, Massenburg shouldve gotten some minutes last night from the 11 to the 8 minute mark of the 4th to rest tim.

but no, Duncan had to act tough and say "Im stayin in"

Nazr handled the pick & roll better than Duncan at times.

Nazr is a better defender. The ONLY thing I would give Rasho an advantage in is size. Besides the intimidation factor of size, that still doesn't compensate for Rasho's mediocre rebounding & offense. Nazr has much more upside, even if he is a couple inches shorter. I'd take Nazr's compe ive spirit, rebounding, scoring and defense over Rasho's size anyday.

Plus, Nazr is a better FT shooter.

Rasho is better in teh Spurs system defensively at this point, but Nazr is quickly closing the game.

Give him the summer to work with the coaching staff, and you have a double double machine with 2-3 blocks per game to boot.

AND Nazr has a problem where he just goes crazy and dunks the ball 10 seconds after a whistle is called.

My impression from watching Rasho is he's still not 100%. He did set a couple of nice screens last night and he did fairly well defensively.

Let's see what happens Sunday, before we change things up.

If Nazr has a sub par game and Rasho looks good in his time in there, then maybe start Rasho in game 5 in SA....the crowd will probably pick him, and he might really play a super game, thus get his confidence going in the right direction in preparation of the next series.

    Why?

Brent has been having sub-par performances in the playoffs and he is the starter (he is even playing more minutes than Manu in this series).

Starting or playing more minutes is not correlated with performance based on Pop's coaching philosophy.

    Crazy talk!

It was never Pop's way in the past to have a player lose his job to injury.

If Rasho is healthy, and Nazr struggles, then Rasho should be the starter again. Simple and fair to both parties.
