He also said that Amare is now the best Big Man in the League.
He just said that he is sick and tired of seeing Danny fortson, Carmelo and everyone else hammer Ginobilli when he goes to the rack
He also said that Amare is now the best Big Man in the League.
hes right duncan needs to stop being a soft ass and step up for his team.
He lost me then he had me. Amare is not the best big man right now, maybe top ten. But yeah he's right about the thugs
Uh ... Amare is no doubt having the best playoffs of any bigman. To even pretend otherwise is crazy.
The best bigman Timvp...the best?
who's crazy here
amare is top 5 for sure
Good ol' Spurs homers.
Amare is bringing it better than any big man in the league right now. Shaq, Tim, doesn't matter. He's the best player playing either the center or PF spot in the playoffs as it stands right now.
Who's been better in the playoffs?
Who's better???? Timvp
Just for kicks, here's some stats:
PPG
Amare 28.6
Tim 22.5
RPG
Amare 11.7
Tim 10.6
FG%
Amare .521
Tim .486
About the only thing Tim has on Amare is blocks per game
Tim 3.00
Amare 2.5
I'm not really sure how you can say otherwise. Tim was short arming the game winner on the road in game 3 against Vitaly Potapenko while Amare was dunking on anyone who stood between him and the rim to get his team a road win when most people thought they were toast.
In these playoffs (and the latter part of the regular season), Amare' is dominating. Tim Duncan isn't even close.
Tex,
LJ is talking about playoff basketball. Amare has been better. Quit being so dense.
I know I'm good, but not better than Amare.
If you mean Tim Duncan, you are even more on crack. Amare is averaging more points and rebounds, and is shooting better from the field and the line. Amare has been a monster. Tim has been good -- he's actually been the second best bigman in the playoffs -- but Amare has been amazing.
Try watching a game other than the Spurs. You'd be surprised.
I understand that amare has been playing well in the playoffs but i'm not willing to say that he's actually better than tim Duncan
I wasn't making the argument that Amare is better than Tim.
There is no way in that Amare is better than TD.
If Nash were on the Spurs and TD got the cherrys to drop in the basket like Amare has, then TD's stats would be even better than Amare's.
TD's first few games were just getteing healthy games. You have not seen the real TD yet, he is getting healthier each week and by the next series, TD will be his old self.
Amare is not 1/3 the defender that TD is, so I guess defense does not go into the eqaution in "best big man" compe ion, huh?![]()
Different offenses entirely, different systems, different styles...you can not compare the two.
Put TD on Phoenix and Amare in SA, and TD would average 13 pts/ game more than Amare...no doubt about it.
I think people are arguing two different things in this thread. The people that are arguing FOR Amare' are saying that he's having the best playoffs of any bigman. The people who are arguing AGAINST Amare' are saying that he's NOT the best bigman in the NBA.
Get on the same page, and then start arguing again.![]()
Being better in 7 games over someone does not mean anything. As I said, the playing field is not even leveled. Amare played against a Memphis team that was fading for the past month and was not any threat to challenge Phoenix on defense at all. Dallas was never known as a defensive team and and TD has had huge games against that defense.
TD is still getting his strength back in his ankle.
Talk to me about this in June, hmm?
I don't know, Amare still isn't really playing the kind of defense Duncan is.
Amare has been better, but I would not say its not close.
Duncan is still a bigger defensive presense despite the block differential between the two not being huge.
Still need to wait until these two series to end to make any sort of conclusions. It's easier to say Amare is way better considering Duncan played a subpar game 3, and Amare played great in Game 3 vs Dallas.
Amare is approaching top 5 player status in this league, and has played the best in the playoffs thus far. But overall, he is not better than Shaq or Duncan or even close to their level.
The words Walton used were "Amare is the best big man in the league right now."
I think Tek is right to take issue with that.
Joe Johnson is the only player on Phoenix that plays any defense at all.
Amare's played well best of the big men so far in the playoffs but best player period in the playoffs so far has to be Wade.
Pts - 26.7
FG% - .507
As - 9.0
Rb - 4.9
St - 1.43
Bl - 1.29
Even won a game without Shaq. Likely Amare wouldn't put up the big numbers let alone win a game without Nash.
Oh and if the Spurs had Nash, Duncan's stats would not be much different either. Nash would not get MVP consideration either, nor would he even average 10apg IMO.
There is a reason Phoenix scores so much, and a reason Amare got more PPG than Duncan this year.
Simply put, the Suns play at the fastest pace in the league. The Spurs are near the bottom in that regard. Of course Duncan is not going to put up godly stats. Unless he starts hogging the ball.
Of course Tim and Shaq are the best bigmen in the league. There is no question about that.
As far as the playoffs, Amare is playing great. That doesn't make him the best in the league, but rather the best at the moment.
I expect Duncan to take back his crown next round.
