With apologies to those readers who might consider this too flippant...
My wife complains that I take the Spurs too seriously and that I am going too far by watching tapes of old Spurs games on days when the team is not on TV. So, to put the Spurs out of my mind, today I started watching a DVD of one of my favorites, the Lord of the Rings, the Two Towers.
Would you believe that within minutes, my mind was making fantasy correlations between the L.O.T.R. plot and the Spurs' quest for a championship, with some obvious modifications---the Spurs were men, not hobbits, and they were trying to acquire powerful rings each instead of trying to destroy one. Using the entire playoffs as my universe for a fantasy plot, I could envision the following characters:
Good wizards---Popovich, Ginobili, Duncan;
Bad wizards---Kidd, Nash, Stoudemire, etc.;
Orcs, lots of orcs---some Nuggets, some Sonics, some Pistons, etc.;
Cave trolls---James, Fortson, etc.;
Ents---Yao Ming, Shawn Bradley;
Gollum---one of Bowen's nemesis...
I stopped the movie because I was not concentrating.
Again, my apologies if this is too flippant.
But I certainly hope that our Spurs complete their quest and become Lords of the Rings.
And no, I was not drinking.

I watch old Spur's games on days they aren't playing. I work out while they are on and my husband loves it.
