Co-sponsors dropped off like fleas when it came time for the nutcutting.

Still, that the Senate felt they owed it to themselves to at least bow to it procedurally and be seen pretending to respect it in public, is significant. (Just like the dismal and utterly predictable display of true colors at the end.)
