I posted a snippet of this in another thread. I think this is one of Hollinger's better articles, and he has a lot of good points. The bottom line is that there's going to be a lot of money available, and several fan bases clamoring for their teams to spend that money.
The dumb teams/GMs will overspend for second rate talent. I get the feeling at this point that RJ will easily fall into this category.
The smart teams/GMs will do their best not to overspend, and will get guys who fit in their system (that is, DON'T do what Portland did last year with Andre Miller). Another smart route is to think somewhat outside the box: keep that cap space open, and instead of pursuing free agents, go after money-conscious teams willing to shed good players with large contracts for next to nothing (e.g.- trade exceptions).
