NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee ans are suing Southern California and coach Lane Kiffin for "maliciously" luring away assistant running backs coach Kennedy Pola a week before training camp opens.
Tennessee Football Inc., the company that owns the ans, filed the lawsuit Monday in Davidson County Chancery Court against both the university and Kiffin.
The lawsuit accuses Southern California and Kiffin of violating Pola's contract that required him to have written permission to discuss a job with anyone other than the ans.
Tennessee signed Pola on Feb. 1. Kiffin hired Pola on Saturday as his offensive coordinator and running backs coach at Southern California.
The Tennessean first reported the lawsuit on its website.

How any true USC fan or alum could be happy with the Lane Kiffin hire is beyond me. The guy has done absolutely nothing and he carries himself with an arrogance and sense of en lement that continues to rub people the wrong way. Mike Garrett (former USC AD), Lane Kiffin and that program full of cheaters deserve each other. I don't see Kiffin at the helm once USC becomes relevant again. Pat Haden (new USC AD) will be fed up with him by then and seems to have enough sense to where he won't let Kiffin represent his program.
If Pola knew that was in his contract, then why did he let Lane hire him without written permission? That's almost as stupid.
classless
who care?
Wow, now Kiffin's being investigated for his one year at Tennessee.
What a great guy Kiffin is. It's pretty bad if you're only in the SEC (a league with a certain rep for violations) 1 year and are getting investigated. What a dumb ass.
