I don't like Dodge cars and trucks, but that was pretty cool of them to do.
This is pretty awesome...

Well at least they weren't gonna eat it.
off PETA
A more ballsy "F you" would have been just to ignore PETA and continue to air the original ad. On the other hand, this is a good job of Chrysler's PR piggybacking on another ridiculous PETA press release.
Hahaha I love it. I saw the invisible commercial the other day and didn't understand why it wasn't visible.
Flipping off PETA would have been replacing the monkey with a gorilla. And poking him with a cattle prod just before he hit the plunger on the confetti bomb.
That must be a different PETA. To me, it stands for "People Eating Tasty Animals."
I would have changed it so that when the monkey presses down on the bar, he blows up instead of the confetti.
I liked the original better; the updated one would look pretty stupid unless I had seen the first and already knew about the PETA garbage. If they made a quick announcement that the monkey was removed according to PETA's wishes, then it would have been an epic commercial.
If PETA wants to go live naked in the jungle while eating nothing but vegetation, fine - as long as they go someplace like Africa where they can personally contribute to the well-being of the animal kingdom by serving as food for the predators at the top of the food chain. What a bunch of stupid pricks.
How is that an F you? They erased the monkey.
Now that Monkey went through all of the abuse for NO face time.

lmao, That would have been a F%&@ you.![]()
I pay very little attention to commercials, but I catch this one every time I flip on the tv. The first one was humorous and when I saw the remade one I just thought it was odd. But now that I know the reason behind it, I think it's kinda clever. It would have been better if they would explain why they did it.
nice lol
Dodge folded like a cheap tent to PETA - their explanation:
http://www.dodge.com/en/invisible_monkey/
And yes, we know, chimpanzees aren't monkeys. That was one of many facts we learned through the process of shooting our latest commercial for the Dodge Tent Event. The commercial features a young chimpanzee (Suzie) in a daredevil suit. She walks up to a detonator, pushes down the lever, and triggers a less-than-huge confetti explosion. Not only did the pussies cave, but they even give a link to PETA where they brag about their 'victory.'
We posted the ad to YouTube, where it garnered thousands of hits and hundreds of comments applauding the commercial for its wit and humor. However, there were a few negative comments about animal cruelty that caught our eye. Next, we received two emails, one from PETA and the other from a chimpanzee sanctuary in Washington State. Both informed us about the poor conditions of working animal "actors." They told us how these animals are usually separated from their mothers at a young age and are usually discarded at seedy roadside attractions after they get too old to act.
We were saddened to learn this, and in the spirit of Dodge we wanted to take action. We decided to take the spot off the air, and we stopped a full-page newspaper spread from running. Dodge is firmly committed to never using great apes in our advertisements again. We released a new commercial. The footage is identical, only this time you won't see Suzie. There's a twist you won't miss. Make no mistake - we're not making light of the issue. We hope our attempt at humor keeps the discussion about animal rights alive ... and so far, it seems to be working. You're here, aren't you? And now, when people ask "Where's the monkey?" we can direct them to resources where they can learn more about animal cruelty prevention.
We are not a company that hides behind issues or brushes them under the rug. We are a company that meets issues head on and moves forward. And we promise to keep doing everything in our power to be one of the most honest and forward-thinking companies out there.
Yours truly,
The Dodge Team
