You may not be able to create your own character in Dragon Age II, but one thing is for certain: the character BioWare is making for you, Hawke, is a badass. Don't believe us? Check out the epic debut trailer, which just happens to conclude with the game's release date.
BioWare released the game's first trailer today, a cinematic which features Hawke in a bloody one-on-one battle with a boy-gone-bad horned monster. Dubbed Destiny, the developer said the trailer gives a strong idea of the faster-paced action and new art direction the sequel is taking.
"The Dragon Age franchise got off to a tremendous start," Exec Producer Mark Darrah said in a statement. "With Dragon Age II, we are building on the outstanding RPG fundamentals the original delivered while taking the franchise in a new direction with faster, more responsive combat that will allow players to think like a general, but fight like a Spartan. We are giving the franchise's gameplay a shot of adrenaline. We can't wait to get the game in people's hands so they can feel the difference."
If you haven't read it yet, here's a synopsis from BioWare:
Oh, and that release date we mentioned: Dragon Age II is set to ship for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PCs on March 8.Dragon Age II thrusts players into the role of Hawke, a refugee who survives the destruction of his homeland and becomes the Champion of Kirkwall. The lore around Hawke's rise to power is shrouded in myth and rumor and is the driving force behind this all-new story spanning 10 years in the Dragon Age universe timeline. Players will uniquely experience how this legend unfolds by gathering the deadliest of allies, making tough moral choices, amassing fame and fortune, and sealing their place in history.

Man, I just finished my 4th play-through of the origional, Im on my 2nd play-through of Awakening... All to build up a character for the DLC of the new Golems of Amgarrak.... I purchased it 4 days ago but had to reinstall Dragon Age and start all over.
This time Im a dual-wielding Rogue Dalish Elf. I never played a rouge before in a game because I thought they where always weak.... I'm tearing up like nothing with hardly any damage to myself.
lol I'm still after the Paragon, I'm going to try to finish it tomorrow... I've been busy with other things that I haven't really caught up.
Just got done replaying DA again, this time as a Dailsh Elf Mage.
I want to see gameplay footage, but yeah, Im geeked.
I've always been a Mage. It's just so overpowered. Can't wait for dis , yo.
Got two separate playthroughs going. A human noble rogue, and a human mage. Loving it so far, can't wait for the sequel.
Bioware is bleeding my pockets dry with all the download content for Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2. And I'm too stupid to refuse because they're so fun.![]()
OK, just finished all of the DLC content with my rouge.....
The new golems of amgarrak DLC was a waste of an hour, especially after playing through all of the origional and the Awakening expansion just to build a character up the way I want it. Sure, you can start off the DLC with a lvl 20 character with mediocre gear but its just not the same.
If you have an already developed character, its worth an hour of your time I guess.
It's not bad, just not enough character development for my taste. Not alot of lore... hardly any character relationship building to speak of.... Just to give you an idea, the entire DLC is smaller than the size of Andraste's tomb from Origins.
On a side note, after reaching level 33 with the rouge, its a great class.... but I think an arcane warrior build focused on sustained abilites would woop its ass.

Can't wait for DA2!
I hope Bioware works on balancing the fights. Reviews say the fights are really really easy now. They removed the bird's eye perspective so planning every single step in your fight is impossible now. Furthermore, they either weakened the enemies or strenghtend the hero. Auto-Heal at the end of a combat? I hope they'll remove this.
Regardless of the gameplay changes, the game should be a huge success.
I'm looking at my characters and they're all level 14-15 and I'm trying to get through the Paragon quest... am I supposed to be higher level? I don't want to get in there and not be able to get out :P
You should be fine at that level.
There is a tactics camera now. You can pause the game and detatch the camera from your chosen character and tactically manage the entire battle from that view.
Any particular line up you'd recommend for this quest? Alistair has been kind of weak for me for some reason, but I always hate leaving him out.. so I've gotten this far with what seems 2 tanks (my character's a human noble warrior) and Wynne and Morrigan.
Is Shale and Oghren better?
For the paragon quest, you want to take Oghren and Shale.... If you dont take Shale you wont be able to do her Origin quest, at least I dont think so.... Oghren should go because he knows Branca.
Since those 2 are tanks, leave Alistar behind and take one of your mages for healing. If your not a rouge, you will miss out on some locked chests but I dont think there is anything spectacular in them anyway.
