Manu was answering questions and of course they were spanish reporters there from Argentina. Well Manu was answering one english question and one spanish question. Then all of a sudden a guy from the side just yells out that "From Now On Just English". Manu turned around and looked at the guy very pissed off.
I think it was very wrong. The NBA wants to expand it's game to being worldwide but yet you can't ask a couple of spanish questions.
I really think the NBA needs to push Manu a little more as their international posterboy. I'm sick and tired of them trying to cram Yao down our throats when they have an eloquent, handsome, and charasmatic guy like Manu. Or failing that, Parker. That trophy love commercial is hilarious.
I also thought it was very rude. Any good media outlet will have translaters on staff. Spanish media have to translate everything else from the press conferences all the time. The guy is a freakin' hero in his country! Let the spanish media ask him questions!
The guy speaking Spanish wasn't from Argentina. You could tell by his accent.
Those interviews are live and are for the press and fans. Imagine a game where international players are involved and the post-game session has questions from press in Portugese, Chinese, Slovenian, French, Lithuanian, .... and English. Not going to work. If there's a live feed to a non-English speaking foreign country they can have a seperate interview session for that player to address the press and fans in his native tongue.
No offense guys but I don't blame them for wanting to end the spanish questions. Most of America does not speak spanish. Would you feel the same way if Yao's press conference was in Chinese? What good is it to watch if you can't understand what is being said on every other answer?

I was there. Manu wasn't "pissed off" at all. It happens all the time during the season too. The beginning of Manu's interview sesssions are in Spanish (if there are international reporters there) and then about midway through they do English the rest of the way. More than one question in Spanish was answered and the Spanish speaking reporters got in their questions. It was not a problem at all.

Much of Manu's popularity is with Spanish-speaking N/S Americans, because he IS Spanish-speaking.
If Manu had received the same question in two different languages, he would have graciously, politely answered the question in both languages, which highlights the huge gap between Manu and the asshole with a press badge around his/her neck. Manu is obviously the better person and professional in his job than the asshole.

Okay I didn't know that Kori. I just saw that small clip. If the Spanish reporters did get all their questions answered then that wouldn't be a problem. I just found it kind of rude that's all.
He said it when a reporter started to ask a question in spanish. But then the reporter asked the same question in english.

Was it Tom James? I understand that they have to have a balance. I just didn't like how the guy completely got cut off. I think it would have been better had they said - "this will be the last question spanish" - and then moved on.
I hope next time an Italian reporter asks Manu in Italian.
I am not sure if he speaks Italian since Argentina is heavily
rooted from Italian ancestry. His body language on the BB court
is very Italian/Latino. I just hope the NBA doesn't tell him to act more
