with all those high paid players with the yankees for so long
To be fair, he had a .604 winning percentage as the Yankees manager. The .500 career winning percentage is largely a product of his New York Mets years bringing down that winning percentage.
Cosign the outta this. Having grown up in northern/central New Jersey in the 80s, Mattingly was like a God to every kid in my neighborhood.
