New anti-sarcasm rule targets Tim Duncan?
NBA will whistle more techs for ‘overt’ gestures

NEW YORK (AP)—Tired of player rants, the NBA plans to crack down this season on “overt” gestures, such as swinging a fist in the air in anger.
And players can be called for technical fouls even if those actions weren’t directed at a referee.
The league wants more respect for the game and its officials, so it’s expanding the list of unsportsmanlike actions that will be punishable.
“Why are we doing this? We just want to have everyone take ownership of how our game looks and the image of our game, and send a message that we want player complaining to be minimized and for everyone to have respect for the game,” executive vice president of basketball operations Stu Jackson said Friday during a conference call.MORE:Besides punching the air, other examples of punishable offenses this season include:
— Waving off an official as a sign of disrespect
— Running up to an official from across the court
— Waving arms in disbelief, or jumping up and down in disbelief
— Clapping sarcastically at an official

This is an outrage. We all know that Tim "Walking Sarcasm" Duncan will be singled out for abuse by the likes of Joey Crawford and his henchman! Be on guard people!!

Duncan will be out of any game where he gets two fouls because he will wave his arms in the air in disbelief. It's a habit that will get him ejected with 2 techs..
If they are going to go through with this than the NBA better go through with it all the way. That means Lebron and Kobe also. Should be interesting.
They better get ready to play games shorthanded then, because every player in the NBA does it. Folks only pay attention to the stars.

They do show the refs up by running across the court to argue a call. Just take it and move on, you get paid millions of dollars to play a child's game

Despite his heroics in the NBA finals to please Stern,
Crawford didn't manage to introduce his rule of an authomatic "technical foul for laughing on the bench."
I am very disappointed.

No "whiny " rule... so Kobe is safe.
