This will be his last NBA paycheck without probaby playing one single minute.

And of course he is allready broke. What a waste of talent and money.

In 2005, Eddy Curry signed a $60 million, six-year contract in a sign-and-trade deal that sent him to the New York Knicks.
You'd think he'd be able to live off of that for the rest of his life.
But that's not the case. Last month it was revealed that his finances are in such dire straits that he has been unable to pay a personal loan of $570,000. The loan was taken out in 2008 and Curry agreed to pay it back with a whopping 85 percent interest rate over five months from a Las Vegas based lender. Wow.
Curry detailed some of his monthly fixed expenses that have prevented him from paying that loan in a court do ent: $6,000 for a personal chef, $30,000 in household expenses, $1,000+ for satellite and cable TV, $17,000 allowance for his friends and family, and previously ordered garnishment of $207,000 from his monthly paycheck.
He also has a $350,000 personal loan from Juwan Howard.
It's been a tough time for Curry. Last year, his nine-month-old daughter was murdered, along with his ex-girlfriend. He also had to deal with custody battle for his son Noah and a sexual harassment lawsuit. To top it off, his Chicago mansion went into foreclosure.
In case you were wondering, Eddie Curry is actually still in the league. Lucky for him, he's got a player option for $11.2 million next year.
On the bright side Eddy Curry isn't living out of his car or spending time in jail.

17.000 $ allowance for family and friends?
350.000 $ loan from Juwan Howard?

It's beyond me how someone can spend so much money on such things...

How can you continue to hand out money you don't have? What sort of ty family and friends do you have to continue asking for money when they must know you're broke?

I wonder of Howard also takes a 85% interest rate for 5 months.

In some ways, feel really sorry for the kid. He's dealt with the murder of his daughter and his daughter's mother, and he had serious heart health issues. That's a lot to go through as a young man. Compound that with all the financial troubles, which obviously are his own fault, but that's a lot to take emotionally for a young man who never really grew up and matured and never learned how to handle responsibility.

What's even more unfortunate is that he doesn't realize he has a rare opportunity to try to turn his life around in a relatively easy way compared to most people who are in similar positions in life. If he spent any kind of time and effort in getting into shape, he could earn another NBA contract. If he's broke now already, more than likely he'll burn through the $11 million coming to him this year. And instead of earning another 2-3 year contract for like $3 million a year, he won't ever be back in the NBA. He's still relatively young by NBA standards. One summer of true dedication to his body and conditioning, he could have made another contract from some team. Some team would take a chance on him. , Kwame Brown earned a couple more contracts after he proved to be nothing more than a role playing big. Darko has earned two contracts passed his rookie contract. Michael Olowokandi got the MLE. There would have been a team that would take a chance on him if he could show some commitment, work ethic, and discipline.

Really sad, but a lot of it is his own stupid fault.

Nothing sadder than losing money, or, dieing. Their importance is almost interchangeable as to the rank.

What i really dont get is:

Yes, they get their first big paychecks and blow it up big time with everything they dreamed of as kids.

But why they are completly unable to see the "stop" mark. Either in their last years of career or last year of their last big contract etc....

You just cant be that dumb not to see "Oh, right now i really have to start to let some millions on the bank for later"....

    I really dont get it...

They charge by the minute in hang-out standard time. Once his money dries up, they won't be around.

Could be even family like in the case of Rodney Rogers. And he not even blew the money, he is saving the rest for his illness...

Some friends have stopped their visits. His family, with the exception of his two brothers, has cut ties over financial disputes, even though his mother and sister live 20 minutes away.
