http://kotaku.com/5649371/nba-elite-...ly-by-holidaysJust one week before it was scheduled to hit shelves, EA Sports on Monday indefinitely delayed NBA Elite 11 for the Xbox 360 and PS3, indicating that quality concerns raised by the demo's dismal showing necessitated the postponement.
Rumors spread quickly when several major retailers either dropped or changed the game's release date to 2011. EA Sports President Peter Moore confirmed the delay moments ago on his official blog.
"Unfortunately, NBA Elite 11 is not yet ready and we have made a decision to delay next month's launch," Moore said, without specifying a new release date. "The decision to delay NBA ELITE was hard because the game has great promise. But ultimately we feel this is the right thing to do. We've been making steady progress on basketball for the past few years and it's going to take extra time to make the game."
NBA Jam, the arcade-style two-on-two game also due on Oct. 5, will still ship on that date for the Wii. The PS3 and Xbox 360 version was to have been included with a free download code in NBA Elite 11. Moore said that game will now be a standalone product that will arrive "in time for the holidays." He did not indicate a price point or if this will be a physical retail release or digital download.
Additionally, Moore said that NBA Live 10, the series' previous entry, will be fully supported throughout the NBA's 2010 and 2011 season. This means it will get a full roster update for the current year, plus the Dynamic DNA updates that track players' real-world performance and tendencies. This DLC will be free, Moore noted.
That game was a piece of . How could they not know that before the demo? I mean wtf.
They probably weren't planning on people finding the programming bugs in the demo, or making them so well known that they would have to delay it to save face.
EA is not a company that really cares about a quality product. If they thought they could make a horrible game and sell it, they would. They haven't really cared about their reputation in years past because there is a substantial number of gamers who blindly buy their product every year, regardless of quality.
LOL at these idiots finally using the ESPN license but failing miserably before release. Madden is next
This is awesome.![]()
Although I think this is a true statement, I don't think it's all that atypical of The Corporation in general. Activision is way worse btw. And I think the sentiment that EA doesn't care about the quality of products they put out is more true of EA Sports than it is of the company as a whole; at least if Bioware and Dice have any place in the debate. Furthermore, along with some real stinkers, there have been some fantastic EA Sports les (recently, FIFA and NHL come to mind).
I don't disagree with you, but I don't think it's quite as black and white as your statement would suggest.
I agree with you, but I think a lot of companies DO want to have a good name among their consumers. EA (Sports) doesn't really give a flip, they think their Madden series is infallible, as evidenced by the fact that it's still outclassed in many ways by NFL 2k5.
That said, I'm not sure you can say Bioware and Dice are really EA. Yes, they are owned by EA, but they are independent operations for the most part.
If you'll notice, EA stopped making baseball games, and the only reason they improved their FIFA series is that they were getting ROFLstomped every year in reviews by PES/Winning Eleven. I don't blame a company for wanting to make money, but I think you still set high goals for content creation while still being about cashing in. It's sad to see Square cannibalize the FF series into a yearly or every other year product, but you can still definitely see they painstakingly make Final Fantasy games, as opposed to EA who mails in all but one or two of their core lineup every year, coasting on their name brand.
And yes, Activision is just evil. They are the worst company in gaming right now in terms of caring about their gamers. But why should they care? Gamers don't, they gleefully gobble down anything made by AV without a second thought or stopping to question if they really want to support a company that actively wants to turn games into slot machines, where you pay money and watch it go toward nothing.
Activision Blizzard, which is their actual parent name, blows EA away in so many regards, and EA Sports compared to Activision? Pshhh. Comparing the two is re ed, plain re ation.
You're an idiot. It's really sad how butthurt MW2 made you.
Dude, seriously, it has only a little to do with MW2 and a lot more to do with the insanity of the statements Bobby Kotick has been making lately. He said Activision is only interested in games that will be hundred-million+ dollar franchises. Basically, they don't care about the little indie game developer and they don't care about the gamer or what we want.
Blizzard is an amazing company, but that doesn't make me like giving my money to Activision. If I can avoid a game (I couldn't stop myself with SCII) then I will, simply because of who makes it.
I am not venerating Activision's actions, just stating it's a fool's argument comparing Activision with EA Sports, or Activision Blizzard with EA. EA has always been about the money, and always will be. EA constantly expanding into so many game franchises, then ruining them for the sake of $$$ and deadlines is the biggest reason why Activision savored being bought by Vivendi and combined with Blizzard. The MW2 argument is moot - MW2's playability is completely fine. Compare that with the quality of Elite - there simply is no comparison.
Oh and Havoc, MW2 may be a "small" part of it for you or someone else logical, but ballijuana has melted down time and time again on the topic with frivolous, emotionally charged bull . He's a very emotional, illogical person and I know for a fact MW2 is the main reason, if not the only entire reason, he does not like ActiVision any longer. A quick search will prove he was riding steadily on their pre-11.10.09 so that leaves little room for debate.
Games always ship with really nasty stuff like that in them; especially now that everyone's online and can patch their console games. As soon as the game passes the licensing tests from Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo, they're scheduled to ship no matter what is wrong with them. This isn't an EA thing; this is all over the industry with production people rushing the out of their developers just to get a product out by a certain date. I really don't have too much of a problem with it though, considering they can be easily patched (usually by the time the game hits the shelves) and also noting that game prices have pretty much followed inflation since the mid 80s even though development and production costs have gone through the roof. I still think it's a pretty good deal for the customer considering how far games have come. Of course, this game in particular looks like a turd; no way I'm standing up for it.
Quite seriously, it's a shame you didn't really kill yourself z0sa. Feel free though, you would be missed by exactly nobody. In lieu of that, sew your cloven, butthurt, asshole up, you crying little .
Not only are your insults the standard run of the mill bull I've heard from you a thousand times, you're completely unable to counter anything I said. Because, of course, you know what I say is true, ya moron.
BTW, nothing screams butthurt like both a reply and a visitor message. Have you looked into medication for your obvious chemical imbalances causing your extreme output of estrogen?
Balli was, apparently, feeling too shy to post this here:
I know you don't have any friends or a girlfriend because you such a ty person, but I hope the only two people who give a about you (your parents) die in a car crash sometime soon. Your of a mother deserves as much for dropping a head like you out of her festering moldy ass snatch.Problems.
