Are there any middle schools/elementary schools that are open during the weekend where a few of my friends can go play flag football? Preferably near 281/1604? Or are there any hotspots where people get together to play on the weekends where we can join in at?
Any help would be appreciated!
There is an open field right on UTSA blvd that we used to play at. It is next to a UTSA parking lot and I used to see people out there playing flag football/soccer/softball all the time. If your coming from i10 it will be on your right hand side right before you hit Bab .
If your looking for something more official or something we used to go to O.P Schnabel Park on Bandera on the weekends and they used to have fields open. Not sure of anything near 281.
Try Bush Middle School on Evans off of 281. They have a main football field that is used by the school team on weekdays and little leagues on weekends, but they also have a practice field next to that with a sign that says anyone can use it.
I think most middle schools have a practice field that the public can get to on the weekends. You could try Bradley Middle School.
If someone is looking for an open field near the Medical Center area, there's a soccer field on Wurzbach between Vance Jackson and Lockhill-Selma. I think soccer matches are starting up again though, but for the most part it's open to everyone.
Are any of the before-mentioned fields lit up at night? We'll be playing around 6:30-7 tomorrow night somewhere and hoping the field will be lit.
I would say that McCallister park on Jones Maltsberger may be your best bet. I don't, however know how late they are lit. I hope the middle schools don't light their fields on days that they aren't using it.
I know that Bush Middle School fields are not lit.

Hobby Middle School off Huebner just north of I10 is where I played a lot of football on the weekends.
