Report: Brady knew trade was in works
ESPNBoston.com
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady recently was in touch with Seattle Seahawks receiver Deion Branch about the possibility of having him rejoin New England to fill the void created by the trade of Randy Moss to Minnesota, a league source told the Boston Globe.

The source also told the Globe that Brady had been in touch with Branch during the past week because he knew the Moss trade was in the works.
And according to the Boston Herald, the Patriots and Seahawks have had preliminary talks about the possibility of a Branch trade.
Branch, who has 13 catches for 112 yards and one touchdown this season as part of a deep receiving corps in Seattle, will meet with Seahawks general manager John Schneider to discuss his future with the team, the source told the Globe.
Branch played for the Patriots from 2002 to 2005 and was named MVP of Super Bowl XXXIX. He was traded to Seattle for a first-round draft pick before the 2006 season after a contract dispute with the Patriots.
He told the Boston Herald earlier this year he would welcome a return to New England.
"That'd be interesting to see," Branch said. "You know what, I talk to guys all the time. I never wanted to leave, nor did coach [Bill] Belichick and his staff and the organization want me to leave, either. We just couldn't get the contractual part down. We just couldn't come to an agreement. And that stuff happens.
"I still love Coach Belichick and if the opportunity presents itself to come back, I would love to be there."
although in hindsight, letting Deion Branch go and replacing him with Reche in Caldwell was the main reason the Patriots didn't win it all in 2006.
If they can get him on the cheap do it, for the first time in awhile he looks healthy. Getting him and V-Jacks would be stupid since Tate deserves to keep his starting job. If they were to get Branch and then resign Mankins so their run blocking is on swole, good with me.
tbh it was more like peyton manning burying his in your defense's collective asshole than anything else
crofl whatever. if it wasn't for troy brown committing the tiest offensive pass interferece call in history, and reche caldwell dropping an easy TD, that game would have been 28-6 at halftime and 38-20 at one point, meaning the Pats would have skated to a guaranteed SB victory against Rex Grossman.
The ty WR corp of the Pats in 06 lost them that shot at a le.
I still remember that playoff game when the Patriots limited the Colts' offense to.....

No. JT's right. I bought the towel Peyton wiped his with after that game on ebay. It still has the poo stains.
Lol, butthurt Pats fans are in the biggest denial in all of sports, more than Mavs and Spurs fans combined.
the next time you post something other than this relating to the Colts/Pats will be the first time.
How's it feel to be the village got amongst all Colts and Pats fan in the NFL forum?
spurs=class
well there's LOL texans, but that makes it even worse for you that you're so far down the nfl forum totem pole, you share a slot with a poster that ty.
Good move for the Pats...
Well we're gonna see if trading Moss + a 4th for Branch + a 3rd was as dumb as it looks or if Moss really prevented the offense from flowing properly. They've got a huge test against Baltimore this weekend, the offense is gonna need to control the ball and score a lot because Baltimore's big receivers are gonna destroy the secondary.
This might have been a decent trade if Deion Branch was still good.
I know Belichick's not the type, but this seems almost like a desperate panic trade to keep the fans happy. Everybody loved Branch at the time, and most fans think letting him go was the wrong decision.
Branch has looked better this season than he has recently. His numbers haven't been good but from what I saw in the San Diego game he's gotten some of the burst he used to have back, granted he's obviously not anything like the player he was from 2003-2005. Idk why you hate the trade, they're giving next to nothing for a guy who might be a s of his former self but still has chemistry with Brady and is known to step up in the playoffs.
At least he is healthy
(Knocking on wood)
Idk why you don't think this is a decent trade, especially you
You hated Maroney, we shipped his ass to Denver for a 4th. We just used that 4th to get Branch. Basically swapped Branch for Maroney and Branch said today he's willing to restructure his contract.
This for me qualifies for decent.
Tell me one thing Deion Branch has done since he left New England that leads you to believe he'll have any impact whatsoever.
My point was that even if he doesn't make any impact whatsoever you (especially you) should like this trade because he will be more usefull than Maroney. Unless... you think Maroney was somewhat more impactfull.
Why would I like that? Waste a 4th round pick on a useless over the hill WR? Just because Deion Branch won't hurt the team like Maroney did doesn't make it a good trade. Let's see who they could have gotten with that 4th round pick first.
