this is a tough one. someone that white is destined to play for Utah, however anyone who can dunk like that might not technically be white enough for the Jazz.

That was a nice throwdown...but he's got quite a ways to go before he reaches the Red Rocket's level.

As I recall his highest vert measurement at Arizona was 44 inches, which is absurd for anyone, let alone whitey.

I really don't understand how Bud fell....

Were there really 43 better players in front of Budinger? The only knocks on Bud were: mentally weak, slow laterally and being white. He has amazing hops and shooting form. Why did so many GMs think that a second round pick is too valuable to take a chance on Budinger?

He never was assertive enough at UA as a scorer. He tended to defer, including late. For what he was, he was great. How that factors in to his NBA career, he had potential to be a 3rd-option tops, but I think that's worth a 1st in the 20-30 range. His lateral quickness isn't great, but but it's not terrible.

Had he left after his freshman year, he was slotted for the lottery. Odd that improved production despite playing with lesser talent and amidst coaching upheaval caused him to drop 30 slots.

IMO, the Joe Alexander effect. A year after there was tons of hype around Alexander as a high jumping honky who massively flopped in the NBA, people were scared Budinger would be the next Joe Alexander.

He also never could reach his potential at 'zona. 3 coaches in 3 years, terrible sop re that killed his draft stock from that point on, plus a combo of many other things. He was trying to produce in a program that was falling apart.

    C. Bud plays with a chip on his shoulder for sure. He can jump to the moon, it's amazing. The one handed slam then the feed to C. Lee for his 1 handed slam---nice.

Best part of that vid is the bench reaction. Namely, the Malik Hairston/Roger Mason carbon-copy celebratory towel swing and golf clap.

Got that strong, quick jumping ability like a quick e in volleyball. I'm sure his volleyball training helped a lot being able to jump so high off both feet. Plus I stuck needles in his calves.
