Oh, it's a 5-year, $22.5 million deal. $21.25 mil is guaranteed, the other $1.25 mil kicks in as a bonus if the Suns make the playoffs. He'll make exactly $4.5 mil every year.
From Jared Dudley's twitter:
Breaking News!! This is bigger then @KingJames going to Miami, bigger then Brett Favre goin to Minn.I have just sign a 5yr deal with the SunsYes Suns fans!!!! 5 yr Max deal!!!!!!! Very solid deal, I'm a fan of Dudley's game, especially his at ude..now they just have to get Turkoglu locked up long-term, and they're good..
Mike Conley now makes twice as much every year as Jared Dudley.
sons "god" didn't do anything to get him this deal. or is that the name of his agent? confused
JD's my favorite player on the team. I think Suns fans would have revolted if this guy didn't get re-upped.
He'll retire to hot-tub with Channing.
He's also better than Jared Dudley. And far less annoying.
You're an idiot if you'd rather have Mike Conley on your team for $9 mil/yr than Jared Dudley for $4.5/yr.
I wouldn't want either of those losers.
And Dudley is a complete, overpaid (now) scrub.
Suns just earned my respect for not overpaying him. I'm pretty sure another team would have signed him for much more. Good move!![]()
I like Jared Dudley. Good mindset. And he signed cheap, 4.5 a year is a fair deal.
hi lakerfan

Last year, Dudley was #1 on our team in 3-point percentage (.46%), steals (81), and was arguably our best man-on-man defender. Great locker room presence, glue guy.
And the fact that you think he's annoying is just another reason to sign him.

It's hilarious how stale 21_Backdoor Sweeps trolling has become
It's not as stupid as when Jason Terry lays out his God line after every win.
Good for him. Watched him a bit in cllege and I thought he could stick in the NBA. He provides a little bit of what most of the suns lack: toughness, defense and intensity. And he fits their scheme by running the floor well and hitting 3's ...nice move. Not sure if he is overpaid or not but if they dont keep him what is the alternative?
While the signing is decent and keeping him around is good for morale/chemistry, I'm not certain locking up another 5 million per season in a role player is what is smart for a borderline playoff team this year whose future is very up in the air as far as focus and whose talent base is now a collection of above-league-average contracts for a bunch of league-average talents.
The Suns have now roughly spent an astonishing 150 million on Turkoglu, Childress, Frye, Warrick and Dudley. Never mind that their two most talented young players in Dragic and Lopez are going to require 8-per year minimum deals to keep.
Effectively, as soon as Nash's contract comes off the books, the Suns will have two years of a maxed out cap on Dragic (re-signed), Childress, Dudley, Warrick, Turkolgu, Lopez (re-signed), Frye and a few 1st-rounders.
Fantastic....
Love Dudley, and I'm glad to see him remain a Sun, but the larger context paints a dismal picture and Dudley, for all his effort and charisma, is not a talent enough to help erase it.
Nice signing, he fits very well with the Suns. Not a person I see starting in the future, but definitely brings energy and could change the momentum in games.
Nice deal but they really need to lock up Turkoglu.
I know, you are looking big picture which is smart, but I think most people are just looking at the deal at it's face value and in a va . Yes, when compared to some of the overpaid talent on the team, I can see why thi doesn't help get the Suns any closer to a le. But i do think it always helps to have solid reliable players at a fair rate. The key is shedding the bad contracts, holding on to the the young budding talent (Dragic, Lopez) and acquiring or developing a true star to replace Nash eventually. I know all of that is easier said than done ...but the suns have a strong fan base which helps keep the franchise accountable.
The Ownership/front office seems a bit shaky lately though ...
