Rockets are 0-4 so far, so they aren't looking so good at the moment. I think Spurs will pull away strong. GO SPURS GO!

This is going to be a ridiculously tough game imo. Scola should go off as the Spurs don't really have anyone to match up against him (especially if Blair starts).

They have shooters and grit. Hopefully the Spurs space the floor and go to Timmy early. Manu and TP should have a field day.

Spurs need to guard the 3PT line and keep guys like Martin off the FT line. As I say in every game thread, rebounding is crucial.

As long as the turnovers aren't crazy, should be a W for the Spurs. It'll be fun watching Yao and the Rockets hustle their ass off to try and get their first win though. They should be playing with a lot more energy considering they're the only team looking for their first win left in the NBA and they're too talented to have that stat.

Blair's going to look comical when he's defending Yao but his strong hands should be good for some steals.

I'm more worried about the Rockets guards than I am of Scola although thats not taking away from Scola's great offensive game. Imo its much harder for the Spurs to guard speedy and crafty guard players like Brooks and Martin, Parker's going to have to focus on defense like he did last game against Nash.

Hard to believe the Rockets are still looking for a win considering some of the names on their roster. They've definitely got some talent. Spurs are definitely capable of winning this one, but it could be tough fought.

I expect a tough game. Hopefully RJ continues playing well. Spurs should win, but we'll see.

I don't have a good feeling about this one. Let's hope my instincts are wrong. A little streak would do big things for this young team's confidence.

    Dex's Keys to the Game:

Hit the glass - Just about the only thing Houston is doing well this season is rebounding. Historically, when they beat up the Spurs on the glass, they win. The Spurs cannot allow this to happen again.

24 Minutes of Yao - Even if you only have to check the Great Wall for half the game, it still presents a challenge. Blair may be able to put a body on Yao, but Yao can still shoot right over him, so I expect a combo of Splitter, Dice, and Duncan to each get a run at him.

Adjust to the Pace - Houston is almost playing like two different team right now: one with Yao, and one without. The Spurs have to be ready for the Houston bench to come in and raise the tempo. If they can adjust and be patient in their sets, the Spurs should be able to get any shot they want against the worst-rated defensive team in the league.

Matchup to watch: Splitter vs. Scola

Great news that Hill is back. This is just an observation, but it really sucks that both Hill and Blair have taken a step back.

With all the positives from Anderson, Neal, Tiago & especially RJ, it would have been huge for Hill and Blair to take another step forward. But their play, although early, kind of negates a lot of the good that the new guys have brought.

Lets hope those two can find their games. Today would be a good start.

Anybody have any experience with league pass broadband and renewing league pass?

I purchased a broadband-based NBALP last season. I assumed that the subscription must be over because a new season has started.

However, when I logged into my account to purchase another round of NBALB, I received the following message -

    "Existing Subscription Detected

We have detected you have at least one current subscription. Please review your subscriptions before continuing your purchase.
    Your Active Subscriptions

    * NBA LEAGUE PASS BROADBAND Choice Full Season Pass Subscription
    "

Really? Current subscription? Does that imply that my current NBALP will work for (at least) a little while longer and I can hold off on having to purchase a new one?

Some people reported earlier that they automatically renewed subscriptions, I guess it's in the user agreement. They've probably already charged you the full amount! League pass is on a per year basis so there is no way your old account is still working without a new payment, it was probably charged automatically.

Spurs are fortunate Kyle Lowry is out, he usually kills them.

I'm looking forward to the game. Houston is a scrappy team who are much better than their record indicates. I hope we get to see a lot more Splitter. It's gonna be scary once he gets his conditioning back.

A very tough game. Houston will be hankering for a win.

However, they've had trouble containing ... well, anybody. They aren't the defensive stalwarts they were just a couple years ago thanks to Shane's decline and Yao's inability to play long stretches.

Our offense (as seen through the first 4) will win us this game if our defense shows itself up to par.

As usual Scola will have a 25pts/15rbs a least...

I think the main danger wil come from Brooks and his 3pts if he wakes up, we haven't defend the 3 well until now.
Let's hope TP gives enough energy on D!

We should be fine. I think we have more potent weapons to out score the Rockets and if our defense wakes up thats another plus. Sure houston is desperate but were the Spurs and Pop is our coach. We'll be focused for the task.

No, it means you are 'subscribed' in the sense that the package you chose last year is what they are assuming (hoping) you want again this year. These asshats use a 'subscription' model that is totally stupid. Hopefully the card you used to pay last year is no longer active, althogh the message you quoted here sounds like there's still an approval step before they charge you. Good luck.

I have many friends in Argentina so it would be prudent to root for Scola and the Rockets. Good luck, however.

Can't wait to see Hill play again and I hope to see Splitter play more minutes. We will probably see a Splitter-Scola matchup which will be a blast to watch.

Overall, I have confidence we will win. I know the Heat are desperate for a win but we should be able to beat the Rockets at home with Splitter now and only a 24-minute Yao and no Kyle Lowry, who usually plays good against us.

Lets make the Rockers 0-5. Now way they get their 1st win of the Season against us.
