Working with Pictures

Okay tell me why and how to change things.

My kids send me pictures from their iphones.
When I was running XP no problem they came in
oriented correctly. Now that I have switched to
W7 the pictures come in on their side.

Instead of portrait they come in landscape. It is
is no real problem on still pictures. But they sent
me a movie of the Great Grandkids and it is
in landscape view instead of portrait. The
stills I would just move them to IrfanView and
put them in the right perspective. But IrfanView
wont open .MOV. So what are your suggestions.

I hope I haven't been too confusing.
