Worth getting? MP looks like it might be fun, but also get old fast. I have never played ACI or ACII.

I got it. What can I say- I like Assassin's Creed and it's clearly the best in terms of map architecture and gameplay mechanics. Just really well made- soundtrack, graphics, voice cast, story: it's all just really clean. Only five or so hours in and not much new here from AC2 besides the combo chain thing, but whatever, it's a cool game. Tons to do, too much even. Rome is ing huge and awesome.

Only played 10 minutes of the multiplayer right when I got the game. Thought it was really, really intense and fun. Totally different from anything else I've ever played online. Might get stale as was speculated above, might not, but I like what I've seen so far.

AC1 is a tech demo for AC2. They just sold it as a functioning game, which it isn't. AC2 is the . This game is based on the premise and character from AC2. I wouldn't say you have to have played AC2 to enjoy this new one, but if you care about story and the like, playing AC2 would add some background and such. Hardly a Mass Effect type of a situation though.

    Eh.....

I would argue that you have to play all three games in the correct order to have any clue about what's going on in single player. But I also agree that AC2 (and Brotherhood) is far superior than AC1 as far as gameplay mechanics go.

I've never played MP, but here's a little info for the OP since he asked about the game. The single player storyline actually takes place in 2012 and the protagonist is the same guy in all three games, Desmond. In the game, your ancestor's memories are passed down through DNA. And a machine has been developed that can view those memories. Most of AC1 is about Desmond's ancestor during the crusades, while most of AC2 and Brotherhood are about one during the Renaissance. The reason those memories are being revisited is because people in the modern day are looking for an object that those ancestors had possession of at one point. The storyline is extremely confusing and rewards players who spend extra time looking for clues (inside the memories and out). The storyline actually predates humans and ties in many historical people/events all the way up to modern day. Each game ends with a mind cliffhanger which picks right back up in the next game.

That said, I love these games and highly recommend them. Never played MP though, just haven't tried it yet.

Thanks for the info gentlemen. I'm enjoying it so far. They have a brief storyline catch-up at the beginning of AC:B so I'm caught up enough to kind of understand what is going on.

I like the MP. I just need to level up more so I can utilize more of the perks/abilities. The thing that sucks is I am pretty slow roof hoping compared to everyone else in MP. I guess I just have to get used to the quickest paths from roof to roof.
