Doesn't he always kinda sound like that?![]()
...a post-game 2 sound bite from Steve Nash. He sounds beaten. The Suns are officially done.

I saw the conference on NBA-TV. Nash was just completely exhausted. He wasn't giving up.
Nash is a competetor. But with that being said it's hard to go this far(I would think) with such a shallow bench. I know he does get rested, but it always seems he only gets like 1 min on the bench and he's right back in.
Nash looked like a wrung out wash cloth at the end of the game
Spurs will have to be very careful in Game 3 not to let their guard down - Suns will be rested and desperate to not get swept. If we can hold on and take Game 3 we may be able to sweep. But it's easy for teams in this suggestion to unconsciously slip a little, let complacency slip in. Good news is that Parker's post game quotes already sound like the Spurs are on top of this.
Not to mention they might get an emotional lift from Joe Johnson being in the lineup
All they have to do is play the same way they have been playing keep up the D, limit the turnovers and just make baskets. I think the Spurs a well aware of what Phoenix is capable of and I dont think they will let their guard down at home.
Nash played 47 mins, his shot almost dropped, he was exhausted...give him a break.![]()
I agree. The Spurs were tired after these two games as well and they knew they weren't easy wins. They know they're going to have to keep up this level of play throughout to get the job done. The SBC Center needs to be freakin' loud!!!!!
This series is not over by any means. The Spurs cannot rest. They need to win at least one game at home. Remember what happened in the Houston-Dallas series.
Last night showed me again why I adore Steve Nash so much. He said all the right things. He didn't blame his teammates or the refs. He didn't talk about how horribly they did (cause they didn't) or how dirty certain players are. He simply talked about how well they'd done while giving credit to his opponets for doing better. He talked with hope about winning one in SA (not inconceivable - we're only up 2-0, not 3-0).
He's just a class act all the way around.
Its about time we play a team with some type of class that just doesnt blame everything on poor officiating and dirty play. Big props to Nashty, He is a great player and a class act but all that aside he must go down.
The Spurs won't rest. They've been here before. They're not green like the Rockets.
The Suns may talk a good game now, but you know the Spurs are in their heads. Phoenix has to be questioning whether they have what it takes to win, and when that doubt creeps in, the tendency is to let up in the face of adversity.
Now in Game 3, the adversity level will rise far above what it has been so far for them. If they hang their heads even for a minute, they'll find themselves down 25 with Devin Brown peeling off the warmups.
coach of they year should have thought about that earlier
Nash looked pretty beat up but hardly beat. If anyone on the roster looked like they had lost hope it was Shawn Marion. After game 1 you could tell from the look on his face that he really expected to bounce back and be a big factor tonight. Last night after still not getting his game going, he looked like a beaten man.
This is key.
What Nash will do is use this experience to exhort himself and his teammates to improve. They will have seen first-hand how high the bar is set to win championships, and will work toward that goal. The next time the Spurs face them, the Suns will have learned a trick or two.
This is how it works in the NBA among the elite teams. One is the veteran team, the master. An up-and-coming team is the apprentice. The apprentice gets whipped a couple of teams but then eventually overtakes the master. Then a new team comes up and the cycle continues.
I saw the conference last night. There is NO quit in Steve Nash, he is the essence of the word "compe or".
I agree w/ what others are saying, this year's Suns are paying their dues, and dealing with disappointment well. They will continue to get the respect they deserve in SA, and for years down the road if they can stick together. I think you won't see a blowout in any of these games, these guys have a lot of heart.
Pray that Amare doesn't ever learn how to become a great defender.
1 Man teams don't win championships..
Nash may be good but his unwashed hair, body stench and hatred for most of America
can only go so far.
If he ever does, what you'll have is David Robinson surrounded by a reasonable facsimile of the Showtime Lakers.Pray that Amare doesn't ever learn how to become a great defender.
Holy . That would be epic.
You know, I kind of thought that. He kind of reminds me of David when he makes a move on the offensive glass. I remember DRob getting rebound after offensive rebound like nobody else wanted the ball until he made the shot. Of course, the Spurs for the most part aren't allowing him so many extra chance points (unfortunately, it's because he's been making it the first time).
Amare's athleticism is there, but when he becomes one of the best shot blockers of all time I'll feel more comfortable with the comparison. Good point, Extra Stout.
Slomo, that's a dig at Nash for 1.) being Canadian 2.) having long straggly hair, and 3.) speaking out about the war in Iraq (he & Dirk had comments last year that they were opposed to it).
I respect the player, but political commentary from a foriegn athlete/entertainer is about as noteworthy as our posts in the Spurstalk political forum. They don't really matter in the great scheme of things. I'm sure he was hounded and baited into making some sort of comment.
Nash wont give up, the guy is a of a player and IMO the best PG in the game with
Chauncey Billups and Tony parker very close seconds.
Nash will be there hard core.
Marion??? He did look beat. Stoudamire seems to be a never say die guy either.
Another guy that might roll over is Jim Jackson
hes remembering 99 all over again.
