I like the move for the Red Sox if they can find a way to get an extension done. But I also think there are questions involving the deal. I'm not on board with the idea that Youkilis is just as good a third baseman as he is a first baseman. I think Youk is a much, much better first baseman. And I think he's far more comfortable at that position. Meanwhile, Beltre was great for the Sox last year, both offensively and defensively. I know the criticism of his production being directly related to him being in a contract year, but I thought he proved to be a great pick-up for the Sox. Now the Sox probably still need another bat to go along with Adrian Gonzalez because he's just basically replacing Beltre's production. With Werth gone, will the Sox be able to land Crawford? Are the Diamondbacks still making Upton available?
I still think it's a really good deal for the Red Sox. I just think there are plenty of questions that still remain for them. They still need an outfielder. Either a centerfielder or a better rightfielder and slide Drew to LF.
