You gotta give it up to Melo though. No way he stays in Denver but still playing his ass off.
I have no idea why everyone (media) thinks NY will be Championship caliber with a trade for this guy...Last time I checked D'Antoni is coaching and he's won as many championships as Charles Barkley..Melo's good but never would they get out of the east with Boston being there...
Just a hype train for a big market. They'll make a bigger deal out of this than the Iverson trade to Denver a few years back. Remember how annoying that was?
He's a of a player, but there are many players like him in the NBA. The thing that prevents him from being a true great, is the fire. Sure, that dunk would have won them the game in a heroic fashion, but do you think that if Manu was running in towards Melo to score the game winner, that Melo would have thought to set his feet and draw the charge? Absolutely not, because Manu and the Spurs know what it takes, they will do everything fundamentally, and they will prevail with the fire, grit, and determination.
If a man was holding a camera & asked me if I wanted to see it, I would say the same thing. It could explain the almost tears I am hearing about.
You could hear it in his voice, you could see it in his eyes, he knew the call was good. He would've ed and moaned about it far more vehemently than he did during the game after the play if he actually thought it was a questionable call.
After the call he wasn't screaming at the refs, he just sort of nonchalantly shook his head in disappointment. The tone of the interview further substantiates the contention that deep down he knew it was a valid call.
You can tell he's merely paying lip service to complaining about the call--his heart wasn't in it (what little shards of it he could scrape together, that is)
But snitches cry
