I have been resisting the urge to start this thread for awhile because I wanted to see if he would pull out of his funk, but after the last two games (and 0fer and a 2-7 outing) combined with his play after his great start and I can't be the only one worried about Richard Jefferson right? Early, it seemed like he was in attack mode and more plays were being ran for him. Now he seems to have regressed, once again, to standing in the corner.

    Thoughts?

I dont understand why the spurs just seem to adamently refuse to run ANY plays for richard jefferson. Ghill gets more plays called for him than RJ. That's just wrong.

I cannot really be angry with RJ. He is doing his job by keeping defenses honest. He is also staying within the offense more often than not. That is a good thing.

J is fine, he's in a bit of slump recently, happens to everyone. Still far better than last year, where if he was shooting bad, he'd fade. This year he still plays hard, defends and rebounds, regardless if his shot is falling or not.

Not too worried. He is still showing effort on the defense and does not hang his head near as often when he misses. You can tell he is still confident in his shot.
George on the the other hand has been passing up 3 pointers the last 3 games...

Nice that the whole team does not go into slumps at the same time.

I think maybe his role has changed. Pop has him in just to draw attention from the other players. He's become more of a stander now. (what else can I come up with)... oh yeah.. the Spurs are winning, so what's the problem?

All players go through funks throughout the season. He's staying aggressive and attacking and shooting when open. The two makes he had last night were long bombs.

y J's funk would only be a problem if the Spurs were, say, 24-16 vs. 34-6. Winning cures everything.

If he's still slumping in March, a bump of the "second year" thread may be in order.

You guys do realise that everyone has a couple of bad games per year its natural, no one is going to be at their top of their game every one of the 82 games. At the start of the year it was Timmy and Hill then Blair then Ginboili and just up until yesterdays game it was Parker. Y'all ejaculate way to Quickly, hold it in guys it ain't that difficult.

I think he is just in a funk right now. My main concern is that he continue to keep defenses honest as well as attack the rim without fear. I think he will have a decent week against some weaker teams...

    Just keep winning....

It's more than a couple of bad games. He has been far less aggressive than he was earlier in the year and his 3pt shooting has been pretty sub-par as of late too(he's only shot 32% over the past 11 games). There is little doubt he's slumping right now, but as I said earlier it's far too soon to worry. If he can pick it up to close to where he was at the start of the year as the Spurs head down the stretch then they will be fine.

I think he sees that they're winning and is playing less frantic mostly because it's not needed at this stage though that may be Pop's will too.

The huge differential is that he moves within the system and he is trusted as a leader and given important shots. RJ is fine and he knows (I recommend y'all check on the 1-15 Interview) that our record is not as good as it looks and what needs to happen for us to be right up there.

Game after game, Pop is giving him tough defensive assignments and he is definitively not a bust at handling them.

Jefferson is a tad self-concious, maybe? Ever since his statements about Knicks-NYC hoopdom and the following so-so game he had there, there's been a drop in production for the following games. Only thing I can think of.

    This.

Sometimes you go through a funk, and sometimes you go through a hot streak. The point is that you keep shooting when you get the open pass, you keep defenses honest (which helps the whole team), and he keeps being aggressive, crashing the boards and being a team player. RJ is fine. Still can't believe how much of a turn-around from last season he is.
