He was a bit out of sorts, and I'm sure the thumb still bothers him a bit, but definitely a positive on a night with a lot of negatives.

I'm sure he wouldn't have played if he wasn't cleared by the doctors... I'm just glad it looks like it's a minor thing and we won't miss him for 3-4 weeks.

Yup, it could have been worse. Glad to see it's not serious.

    Good point

    Other positives:

-Splitter got hands-on training involving the effectiveness against his flip shot against legit shotblockers.

-Owens got a good run and looked somewhat interesting.

-Got to see more proof that Neal sucks in garbage time for some reason.

-Good tape for Pop to use to show how they should be playing defense.

-Hornet fans got to enjoy a fun game before the team eventually moves.

-DeJuan had a good enough dunk that he could spin around twice even though his team was down 40.

-Rather the Spurs get blown out then risk injury by playing heavy minutes in a b2b.

Had those 5 quick points when no one could buy a shot. Good to see that he's not hesitating.

Hopefully, he could get it together during this road trip and be consistent with his aggressiveness on both ends.

I've been thinking about Neal's ty performances in garbage moments. I think he's accustomed to having options, and in garbage time it's chaos. He doesn't work well in chaos (unlike Manu who thrives in it). He needs to be set up for most of his shots, and although he can put the ball on the floor and drive, he's below average at it and get's in trouble easily, resorting in a failed teardrop attempt or a turnover. Also bad passes to and from him make his game look sloppy. Keep him out of garbage time, that's my opinion. He doesn't need that practice.

That is a huge positive like you said, but the other is the game ended and it won't be played again...

Why was Hill out there a positive? He was a complete joke. That's like saying, look at the bright side, atleast we didn't lose by 50.

Thumb injury doesn’t keep Hill out
    Jeff McDonald

..."He wasn’t very confident with the ball, but he didn’t get it hit again,” Popovich said after the game. “He got a few minutes in, got a little confidence. He’ll just have to gut it out, I guess.”

Hill, who is right-handed, said he had the most difficulty catching passes.

“Once in a while, I bobbled it a little bit,” Hill said. “I don’t think it affected much else, besides catches.”

Moments after entering the game in the first quarter, New Orleans was whistled for a defensive? 3-second technical. It was Hill, sore thumb and all, who took the designated foul shot.

“Anytime you get a tech (shot), it’s easier on you,” Hill said. “I’m happy that was my first shot. If not, it probably would have been an airball.”

Good to see him out there, although you could tell it was bothering him. He bobbled the ball at times and his dribble was a little bit erratic. Hopefully it improves and doesnt bug him much down the road...
